Activision is once again trying to bring cheating in Call of Duty: Warzone to a halt, this time focusing its efforts on the console communities.

Call of Duty: Warzone has been plagued with cheaters since it made its debut, something that has only gotten worse with time. Fortunately, Activision is continuing to take action against those that are ruining Call of Duty: Warzone, focusing specifically on some new console hacks.

Recently, Call of Duty: Warzone hacks on consoles have become more prevalent, with a frustrating new aimbot being advertised online. Working just as well on PlayStation and Xbox as it does on PC, this hack is pushed as “undetectable” as an attempt to win over cheaters. Unfortunately, it seems to be working, as an anti-cheat Twitter account has begun to warn gamers that PlayStation and Xbox hacks are being seen in more lobbies than ever before. While this is frustrating, the one bit of good news is that Activision is taking action.

The account that first warned of this new Call of Duty: Warzone aimbot, @AntiCheatPD, recently posted an update about the topic. The Twitter user shares a photo of a video removed screen from YouTube, with the photo showing that Activision has had the video advertising the hack taken down. With @AntiCheatPD claiming that entire YouTube channels are being shut down, too, it seems like the publisher is taking this issue seriously. Getting rid of the cheaters will likely be a bit tougher, though, as Activision has consistently struggled to keep them away.

Call of Duty: Warzone ban waves have been constant, with regular passes seeing 30,000 accounts being removed at a time. These consistent attempts have led to an absurd milestone of half a million banned accounts, a number that will surely only grow larger as time goes on. With entire cheat websites taken down and legal action also threatened, attempts are clearly being made to bring the cheating to an end. Unfortunately, that seems unlikely to happen anytime soon, as these attempts only lead to brief windows of time where hackers are less prevalent.

It seems like cheating in Call of Duty: Warzone will always exist, as there is a major flaw in the current system for account bans. Players that are rightfully removed from the game are not kept away permanently, as they can simply make new accounts. While they may lose their progress and cosmetic items, this is unlikely to deter cheaters, as they can still utilize the same hacks under a new name. As such, players have called for better anti-cheat detection or full IP address bans, both of which could serve as a more permanent solution.

For now, though, it seems like Call of Duty: Warzone players will need to keep dealing with cheaters. On the bright side, at least the console-specific aimbot is no longer be advertised, with Activision trying its best to keep this hack off consoles.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
