Being heavily inspired by old-school top-down Grand Theft Auto titles, it’s only fitting that Glitchpunk features a Wanted Level system.
Just like GTA, police will come after players in the indie-developed adventure if they start causing too much destruction. The more chaos players unleash on the poor citizens of New Baltia, the higher the Wanted Level will be. This can be fun to mess around with, but it’s very inconvenient if players are trying to complete a contract and are being blocked off by police vehicles, or pulled from their cars.

There are three ways to lower the Wanted Level in Glitchpunk:
- Avoid committing crimes until the Wanted Level times out
- Finish a contract
- Visit a Mod Garage
Avoiding crime until the Wanted Level times out is actually a lot harder than it sounds. The driving controls aren’t the best at the moment, especially if using a controller in Glitchpunk. It’s inevitable that a few random citizens will get run over when the steering tends to be inaccurate, and they blend in with the environment. Players can walk around while waiting for the level to drop, but police officers will inevitably find them, and they aren’t very friendly when they catch up to them.
If players are in the middle of a contract and think they are nearing the end, they should try and finish the mission instead of waiting for the police to magically forget about their crimes. Successfully completing a contract will immediately drop any Wanted Levels players have obtained during the mission. This is explained in-game by the contract-giver bribing the police.
Visiting a Mod Garage is the best way to lower the Wanted Level in Glitchpunk. It only costs $200, and there are six of them scattered about the New Baltia map. Players should look at their map and search for the nearest yellow spray can symbol.
Other symbols (like the RPG Launcher location) can be toggled off to make the search easier. Unfortunately, waypoints cannot be set, so players will have to remember the general direction and navigate to it themselves. The Mod Garages are noticeable by their green-red neon glow.
If it looks like there are too many police officers, and players think they are about to die, a Glitchpunk save file can be loaded to ensure weapons and items are not lost.
Glitchpunk is out now on early access for PC.
