Overwatch has become as popular as it has due to its cast of heroes, though a new bug is seeing one of the game’s characters randomly dying. While there does seem to be a clear cause, Symmetra players should still be a bit more careful whenever they go through a teleporter in their next Overwatch match.
Intriguingly, Symmetra is not the only turret-wielding damage character to encounter an odd bug in recent weeks. The Overwatch hero Torbjorn has seen his beloved turrets failing to deploy in a certain area on Hollywood, removing one of their most powerful vantage points from use. While seeing Torb’s turrets bounce in the same spot is a bit disappointing, at least the hero himself is not being killed after placing them. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Symmetra, as the damage hero is seeing her teleporter ability cause more harm than good.

While Sym’s teleporters can allow the character to flank with her team and access some clever ambush points on certain Overwatch maps, they usually do not lead to death upon entry. Unfortunately, Twitch streamer kotablaize has stumbled upon a bug that seems to do just that. Shown through a clip on the streamer’s Twitch stream, the Symmetra fan can be seen getting pulled into the pit on the Sanctum section of the king of the hill map Nepal. While the cause is not initially clear, the killcam showcases why the bug happened.
Someone on the opposing team who was playing as the Tank hero Zarya fired her Graviton Surge ultimate ability in the direction of kotablaize’s team. In an attempt to escape, the Symmetra user through a teleporter on the floor, rushing toward it as the Graviton sucked players in. Though the player successfully teleported and got out of range of the of Zarya’s ultimate, they still found themselves getting taken backwards once reaching the other side — something that led to the streamer’s death.
Kotablaize explained that he had no control over his hero when reaching the other side, unable to move as the Graviton pulled him back. While the player laughed it off and took things well, it would certainly be understandable if some Overwatch fans that encounter this bug find it more frustrating than funny. After all, Graviton’s are not supposed to work on those out of range, not should they stick to players as they go through teleporters. As such, hopefully this bug is fixed soon.
For now, those that love Symmetra and her kit should simply avoid using the teleporter ability as a means of escape whenever they are grabbed by Zarya. With such a maneuver clearly making players susceptible to death, it seems like the potential reward is just not worth the risk.
Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
