As the Outriders release date of April 1 creeps closer, People Can Fly publishes an animated short offering potential players a narrative recap.

Development studio People Can Fly turned more than a few heads with the Outriders demo. Players explored a bit of what the overall narrative offers, ultimately throwing them into a hellish reality that offers a stark contrast to its laid-back intro. Now, People Can Fly is offering an animated short for interested players to get a quick recap before launch.

The demo of the RPG-looter released on February 25 to high praise, offering players the opportunity to earn gear before its official April 1 release. The Outriders demo offered depth, with multiple playthroughs allowing gamers to explore each class while shifting the world's difficulty higher. As the title gets closer to its release, both the developer and publisher Square Enix are leaning into the seeming fan embrace of the title thus far.

People Can Fly has just released an animated short onto YouTube. It lasts slightly longer than a minute and offers a brief recap of the narrative thus far in the game's demo. If the title has already enticed players that want to work through it fully upon release, the short offers a quick recap to bring players up to speed without spoiling gameplay aspects. The demo itself has been almost unparalleled in reception across all platforms, as Outriders' popularity was seen within the first week.

Outriders is brutal in execution: players have arrived on a planet seeking safety for humanity. The planet is more hostile than originally believed, with storms that instantly kill most, yet some gain unfathomable powers that may stem a bloody civil conflict. Regarding the Outriders as "bastards" of the best that humanity had to offer, the heroes of the title ultimately offer a source of power that could turn the tide.

The demo has been well received, with multiple gamers spending hours farming legendaries, though some are using exploits to receive legendary weapons in Outriders. This preparation will ensure that these players will have a leg-up when the title officially launches, as all progress is saved and carried over to the full game. This also makes the demo a tantalizing prospect: worst-case scenario, a player will bounce off and not jump into the final product.

Yet it offers the opportunity for interested parties to fully explore what People Can Fly is planning with only a time investment. People Can Fly said it is using the Outriders demo to tweak balance in the final game. This ensures that the title doesn't struggle due to an arbitrary release date, offering developers over a month to analyze player behavior.

Outriders will release on April 1 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
