The upcoming VR game Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Tempestfall gets a cinematic trailer preparing players for battle against Nighthaunts.

2021 continues to reveal video games in development set in the Warhammer universe, and now virtual reality game Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Tempestfall gets a CGI trailer for fans to dissect. Last year Warhammer fans were treated to the announcement of another game set in the Age of Sigmar time period, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground, though Storm Ground is a turn-based strategy title. It was speculated last year that Storm Ground would feature combat between the Stormcast Eternals and the dreaded Nighthaunts, and Tempestfall seems to have the same idea.

The Age of Sigmar setting comes after the destruction of the Old World, as the God-King of humankind, Sigmar, is guided to the Mortal Realms by the celestial drake Dracothion. Four great alliances are formed (Order, Chaos, Death, Destruction) and Sigmar's elite warriors, the Stormcast Eternals, set out to claim the Mortal Realms for the forces of Order. Split into eight different realms, one of these realms is Shyish, the Realm of Death, and it is here that Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Tempestfall takes place.

Even though the trailer doesn't show any gameplay, it seems players will take up the mantle of a Stormcast Eternal to fight off Nighthaunts and possibly other creatures in the Realm of Death. Information on Steam about Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Tempestfall suggests the game is set just after the invocation of the Necroquake, which triggered competition between competing factions in Warhammer lore to harness the power of Stormvaults containing powerful artifacts.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Tempestfall is a VR-exclusive action adventure game that will allow players to wield iconic weapons of a Lord-Arcanum in order to battle opposing forces. The game will have a motion-based combat system for both weapon and magic wielding. Adventurers must search for pieces of Sigmarite and ancient scrolls in order to enhance their weapons and defeat tougher enemies. The game will have a full story campaign set in the Realm of Death and is supposed to release for multiple VR headsets including the Oculus Quest.

Developer Carbon Studio is an independent studio that focuses on VR games. Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Tempestfall will be the developer's first foray into the Warhammer universe and its third VR game after Alice VR and The Wizards VRTempestfall is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2021 and will be among the few Warhammer VR games in existence. The Warhammer 40K universe got its first VR game last year with Battle Sister, and now Age of Sigmar will be the next setting to get the VR treatment.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Tempestfall will release sometime in 2021 for the HTC Vive, Oculus Quest, and Valve Index.
