Genshin Impact has recently released its 1.4 Update. No new 5-star character is scheduled to be released, so it might give players some space to breathe and raise the characters they have been neglecting. One of these characters might be the 5-star character Albedo.

Albedo was featured on the Limited Banner in 1.2. He is a Geo sword-user and is best used as a support for his swap-in then swap-out playstyle. He even earns the nickname "Geo Fischl" for this, offering high supportive utility without having to be on the field, similar to Fischl's raven familiar, "Oz". Albedo is really easy to build, making him a friendly character even for casual players.
Albedo can perform nicely even on low-budget materials, but players should keep in mind that his Normal Attack has a low multiplier, making him a poor choice as a main DPS. However, his Skill, "Solar Isotoma", can deal massive damage without Albedo having to be active.

The damage of Solar Isotoma comes from the "Transient Blossom", which occurs once every 2 seconds in a small AOE. This skill scales with Defense, and can easily deal 10000 damage. Other than that, his burst also offers a buff for the party, giving the players' characters 125 Elemental Mastery for 10 seconds after it is cast. So Albedo is more fitting in the support role.
Due to his Transient Blossom that scales with defense, players are recommended to focus on this stat to maximize his potential. Albedo will not require attack, so for his main stat, players can use Defense/Geo DMG/Critical Rate or Critical Damage. For his artifact sets, there are several alternatives that players can use.
Archaic Petra: Geo DMG Bonus +15%.
Defender's Will: DEF +30%.
This is the best set players can go for if they're unable to hit defense on their substat. But players should keep in mind that Defender's Will set is only available as a 4-star, so players should only use it on Flower and Feather, to avoid loss in the main stat.
Noblesse Oblige: Elemental Burst DMG +20%.
This set will increase the damage of Albedo's burst. His burst will not deal a lot of damage on defense build, so this is a viable choice if players wish to see higher damage. This is also the best build if players have him at C2.
Gladiator's Finale: ATK +18%.
This one will amplify the damage of Albedo's skill upon casting and his burst. This set is a good option if players have great substats with it.
Gambler: Increases Elemental Skill DMG by 20%.
This set will amplify the damage of Albedo's "Transient Blossom".
This set is completely focused on his "Transient Blossom" damage. It is not recommended for end-game players, but it can serve as an option for players under Adventure Rank 45.
Players can also use 4-Archaic Petra for a full-support Albedo.
Albedo's best-in-slot weapon is actually the 3-star weapon "Harbinger of Dawn". This weapon offers Critical Damage as its substat and Critical Rate on its passive, allowing Albedo to obtain an extra of 46.9% Critical Damage, and 28% Critical Rate from only the weapon. Harbinger of Dawn's 28% Critical Rate can only be maintained if players can keep his HP above 90%, but this won't be a problem since Albedo will be swapped out after casting his skill.

Another alternative is the free weapon given out on 1.2, "Festering Desire". This weapon will amplify Albedo skill's damage due to its passive and will allow him to gain his burst faster because of its Energy Recharge substat.
Albedo's ease of use allows him to be viable for any kind of team. He can easily fit with anyone and perform greatly all the same. If players ever wonder who to use on their last party slot, Albedo can be the answer. Albedo will be amazing if players are running a Geo DPS such as Ningguang. He will create Geo resonance with her, and they will synergize in creating energy particles, allowing them to burst more often.
