Riot Games has been putting some real work into earning that 's' at the end of Games and that streak continues with a new MMORPG set in the League of Legends universe. That being said, delivering a game of this scale is going to take a pretty big team. For those interested in game development, Riot Games is hiring for a plethora of roles for anyone looking to help bring Runeterra to life.
The news of the MMORPG was confirmed via Twitter back in 2020 when Riot's Greg Street announced that he was working on a new MMO for the League of Legends universe. "I have news," he began. "My recent job has been to help develop the League universe, which we're going to need. Because it is time. My new job is to kick off a big (some might say massive) game that many of you, and many Rioters, have been asking to create." When asked if this was a not-so-subtle confirmation that this new project is an MMO, he responded, saying "It is an MMO."
It is an MMO
— Greg Street (@Ghostcrawler) December 18, 2020
The news of an MMO wasn't all that shocking. Street was absolutely correct in saying that many have been asking for this for years now, especially with so all the interesting characters to delve into. The world-building of the League of Legends universe has been impressive and this MMORPG aims to take that experience to entirely new heights.
While we await new information on the upcoming MMORPG, Riot Games has set up a recruiting page further confirming the new game. The company is looking to hire specifically for this project, reaffirming to the public that an MMORPG of this size will require more people than the studio currently has — especially with so many other projects currently in works.
While specific job listings are still being populated (as seen here on the recruiting page for the MMORPG), a Riot Games spokesperson did tell Game Informer that roles offered include positions centered around Gameplay Engineering, Game Design, UX Design, Game Art, and Game Production.
I'm excited to learn more about this. Like many others, I am one of those League of Legends fans that have been hoping for an MMORPG expansion, especially since I've fallen off of the MOBA train. Hopefully this means that more details will follow, but for now you can check out the full listings page (including the official confirmation) right here.
From Valorant to Teamfight Tactics — even Legends of Runeterra — it's good to see Riot Games branching out while still remaining faithful to its roots. Outside of Valorant, which is a first-person shooter very similar to CS:GO, the expansion beyond League of Legends itself is exciting for both longtime fans of the IP and newcomers interested in learning more.
Sony confirmed a Twisted Metal TV series back in May of 2019, but since then news has been mum. Luckily, that's changed, because more details have arrived, including who is behind the latest adaptation and what fans can expect.
The upcoming Twisted Metal TV show will be a live-action adaptation under the umbrella of Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions. The series will focus heavily on the chaotic vehicular combat seen in the PlayStation staple, bringing the total destruction that has reined supreme since 1995 a new medium to take over.
Variety reports that the upcoming show will be an action-comedy series that will be based on the original game. The writers behind the Deadpool movies are also involved with Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese taking point.
“Twisted Metal is one of the most beloved franchises from PlayStation,” said Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, in a statement about the new show. “We are thrilled to have such a great team working on bringing this iconic game to life for the fans.”
As for the series itself, the show will follow a "motor-mouthed outsider" that is seeking greener pastures. In order to make a better life for himself, however, there is one small task that stands between him and a better life. Tasked with delivering a "mysterious package" across an area ravaged by greed and post-apocalyptic endeavors, this "small task" becomes much bigger than anyone realized. This outsider is joined by a car thief that shoots first and asks questions later with some deranged clowns thrown into the mix (because why not?). The upcoming Twisted Metal TV series aims to bring the chaotic experience we all know and love to a wider audience.
Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai) is set to write and executive produce the TV adaptation alongside Will Arnett, Peter Principato, and Marc Forman. PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst is also on board to executive produce, though casting decisions haven't been revealed at this time.

Valheim is a stunning survival game that perfectly balances mechanics that the genre is known for with a beautifully soothing soundtrack and art direction that makes it easy to get lost in. With a massive focus on building and creating, there are a few mods out there to make it a little more creatively-focused, like Minecraft, for those interested! If that's you, here are some of the best Valheim mods that we recommend.
Before recommending what mods to pick from, a quick disclaimer: there is an option to toggle on PvP, though it's not as scary as it may sound to someone who detests PvP. In order to activate this, you need to go out of your way to actually choose it, so if you are looking for a player vs. player experience, we recommend doing so without any mod assistance.
The True Creative Mode mod is inspired by Minecraft's Creative Mode and works very similarly. There are togglable options for players to use if they still want some challenge such as the God Mode, Fly Mode, and Kill All Enemies option.
Full features include:
This is one that I won't play if someone is in my server, but when I'm going solo it makes it a little more enjoyable to try to build the palatial home of my dreams while living out that Viking fantasy.

In a direct pivot away from the Creative mod, this Expert Mode mod ramps up the challenge factor of Valheim immensely. While the settings can be tweaked by the user, the vanilla version of this mod sets all enemies at 2 stars but the catch is that the loot dropped is at 0 stars. This gives players a harder challenge with lower-tiered loots, making both combat and crafting more brutal. Or you could just do the above mod and go ham on foes with the God Mode.

Stamina, like in most survival games, is a key mechanic in terms of survival and exploration. With Valheim, the stamina in-game depletes at a rapid rate (though this can be improved upon through the title itself, especially through boss fights and the blessings offered through communing through runes). If you're like me, you love to just explore: swimming, mountain climbing, running for your life in terror because oh my god, where did all of those trolls come from?!
The Stamina Overhaul mod completely changes the stamina mechanic in-game by improving regeneration rates, removing over-encumbered stamina depletion, eliminating the stamina penalty whilst sneaking around, and more. The rate of drain overall is slowed as well, making it easy to go for that swim or to run up that mountain without fearing a total drain that leaves you helpless against any enemies that may be on your tail.

When you die in Valheim, you have the option to retrieve any gear lost when you were felled. Instead of losing all of that hard-earned gear, the game packages it all up nicely into a neat little gravestone. Unfortunately, that means you'll have to go back to the place you died (which can be far from spawn, if you're not careful) completely vulnerable unless you have backup gear in your house.
If you're like me and you like to go bonkers without a care in the world for consequences, this Gravekeeper mod might just be for you. It's simple, and all it does is allows players to keep the items that they have acquired even after death. No slow march back to your loot, simply respawn and bam! Your items are back with you where they belong.

It's an unspoken rule: Where there can be a Lord of the Rings tribute there will be a Lord of the Rings tribute and Valheim is not exempt from that. This mod doesn't change anything mechanically the previous recommendations, instead it just adds the Barad-Dur Sauron Eye Tower into the game. Is it necessary? Nah. Is it cool as all heck? You betcha!

There a few other odds and ends that I recommend as honory mentions, including the No Wear and Tear mod that removes the uglier textures from damaged structures and the Item Stacks mod that increases the stack size for your inventory.
As someone that typically stays away from survival games because I just don't have the patience for them, Valheim is something truly special. Mods help tailor experience even more for those that are looking, but the title itself does a good job at balancing all of the various mechanics, making its intended experience an adventure worth appreciating.
