We’ve had our eye on Sable for some time now, as the striking aesthetic of the game has been captivating since its first reveal. At long last, the game has a release date. At today’s Summer Game Fest, we learned that the project will become available on September 23, 2021.
In the game, players take on the titular role as Sable pursues a rite of passage out in the desert, called her Gliding. There, she navigates stark landscapes of sand and rock, often onboard a fast-moving hoverbike.
In an interesting twist, the full game soundtrack is being crafted by Japanese Breakfast, and band head Michelle Zauner was on-hand to perform a song from the game, accompanied by footage of the game. She sung one of the songs composed for the game, called “Gliding,” and the unique set for the Summer Game Fest event allowed her to seem to be immersed in the sandy desert environs of the game as she sang.

Sable is created by Shedworks, a small two-person game developer based in London. The team has partnered with Raw Fury for publishing support on the project. The game will appear on PC as well as on Xbox consoles, and will be on Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Earlier this year, CD Projekt Red fell victim to a massive data breach that resulted in source code being sold and other information being pandered. While some in the gaming community made jokes about this following the release of Cyberpunk 2077, many failed to understand another dangerous side of this type of hack: employee personal information being sold, including home addresses. The Polish studio is far from the only studio to be hit with this kind of breach, and now another major company is reporting stolen data.
In a report that broke from Motherboard, EA is the latest company that has been hacked. Of the data stolen, there is source code to FIFA 21 as well as a plethora of valuable developer tools not limited to just the Frostbite engine. According to the initial report, the hackers are looking to sell the source code – not unlike what happened to CD Projetk Red – for an undisclosed dollar amount. The total amount of data is reportedly up to 780GB's worth.
EA is looking into the incident. A spokesperson told BBC, "We are investigating a recent incident of intrusion into our network where a limited amount of game source code and related tools were stolen." They also added that no player data has been accessed, and at this time there is no reason to believe that any player privacy is at risk. EA also confirmed that the proper authorities have been contacted.
“This incident demonstrates the fact that even high-tech organizations are vulnerable to potential data breaches," known security advocate Erich Kron tells Game Informer. "In this case, the source code for several products, some very valuable and costly to produce intellectual property, has been stolen by the cybercriminals and offered on the open market. Interestingly, at this time, it appears they did not attempt to ransom the data back to EA, but instead chose to offer it to the highest bidder. If this data includes a significant amount of proprietary information, it may be valuable to competitors, or it may include information or vulnerabilities that could be used in future attacks against EA products or customers with installed EA games."
He added, "Unfortunately, these successful attacks are often a byproduct of human error. Reused passwords or harvested credentials are common ways for attackers to gain access to systems and networks. For this reason, it is a wise move for organizations to regularly educate employees about potential attack vectors and the importance of being vigilant for attacks that may target them. In addition, robust Data Loss Prevention controls can help spot when sensitive data may be moving out of the victim's network and play an important role in an organization's layered security strategy.”
Supermassive Games just recently pulled back the curtain on the third entry in its Dark Pictures Anthology, but it saved some surprises for Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest. During the live stream, a trailer showcased more of the tension and horrors awaiting a military group that gets trapped in an underground temple with a nest of monsters hungry for blood.
Up until this point, we didn't have a release date, let alone any idea what these monsters even looked like in House of Ashes. Supermassive unveiled the horrifying creatures at the end of the trailer above, but not before revealing an October 22 release date alongside "The Pazuzu" collector's edition (pictured below), which offers a figurine of the creepy creature (10 cm), exclusive art print, stickers of the cast, eclipse pin, collector's box, and more. The Pazuzu edition is a Bandai Namco store exclusive.
Previously, director Will Doyle said: “The creatures in House of Ashes are some of the most complicated we’ve ever made. But through hand animation and motion capture, we’ve created a monster that is very believable, very threatening, and very dangerous."
Finally seeing one up close, it certainly looks like a horrifying menace that I wouldn't want to be trapped in an enclosed space with, but I'm sure I'll have my fun outsmarting and besting them.
House of Ashes marks the first time enhanced versions will be available for the new-gen systems (PS5, Xbox Series X/S). It is also coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Just in time for the theatrical release of F9, Rocket League players can compete in a variety of cars from the film, including another chance to drive Dominic Toretto's Dodge Charger. This is the third time that this movie franchise has been featured in the game. In early 2017, Dom's "The Ice Charger" from Fate of the Furious was added to the virtual store, and later that year, another batch of this film franchise's iconic rides arrived, giving players control of Dom's classic Charger and a Nissan Skyline GT-R R34.
Announced during today's Summer Game Fest livestream, Rocket League players can purchase a Fast & Furious three pack of cars on June 17. The Dodge Charger and Nissan Skyline are being pulled out of the garage for a second run, and are joined by a new addition: a Pontiac Fiero (based on the hybrid hitbox).
You can tune up all of these cars with a variety of decals, including Reel Life versions that are pulled from the films. The Fast & Furious three pack sells for 2,400 credits. Most licensed content in Rocket League disappears from the store after a few months, and that once again holds true with this pack. It disappears from the store on June 30.
On June 19 at 11 a.m. PT, Psyonix is holding a Fast & Furious: Rocket League Rumble livestream on Twitch that pits some of the game's top teams against one another. This tournament features a single-elimination bracket of 4v4 Rumble Matches.
Fast & Furious is a natural fit for Rocket League. Other popular brand crossovers include Ghostbusters with the Ecto-1, Batman v Superman with the Batmobile, Halo with the Warthog, and Jurassic Park with the Jeep.
Rocket League is still one of my most played games, a joy I found at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to unite with friends and play something a little less violent than our normal picks.
