Raptors have invaded Fortnite! As a part of Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 6 raptors, alongside other deadly critters, are prowling the island looking to devour any hapless players unlucky enough to cross their paths. The news comes alongside a big performance boost to the Switch version of the game and definitely lives up to the seaon's "Primal" moniker.

The extinct predators were previously teased when players began discovering egg nests scattered across the map. Those eggs have attached into full-grown, door-opening (not really...but who knows?) reptiles, and these equal opportunity killers will pounce on anyone unfortunate enough to enter their crosshairs. If that’s not scary enough, raptors always travel in pairs. Any Jurassic Park fan will tell you that it's never the raptor you see in front of you that does you in; it’s the one you didn’t even know was there.

Raptors aren’t the only beasts to worry about. Wolves and boars have joined the fray as well. Wolves are slightly less aggressive than raptors in that they will only attack if startled. If they do strike, you better watch out. Savvy players can entice the pups with meat to have them join your pack, or you can hunt them down to use their bones as crafting Primal versions of your basic weapons. Boars are shy and will either flee when disturbed or try to gore players. You can placate them by tossing vegetables for them to snack on.

Instead of running or fighting, how would you like to tame these predators instead? Craft the Hunter’s Cloak using materials gathered from hunting the newly added chickens and frogs which emits a scent that lulls any predator to your cause. Who doesn’t want to charge opposing players with a raptor at their side?

In addition to wild animals, Fortnite Season 6 also brings Lara Croft into the fold. How do you feel about facing down raptors in Fortnite? What other crossovers and additions would you like to see? Let us know in the comments!

If you've been itching to replay The Witcher 3, hold off! Next-gen updates are on the way. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt PS5 and Xbox Series X next-gen updates will arrive sometime later this year.

The reminder broke from Radek Grabowski, the lead PR manager for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3. He took to Twitter with a quick "in case you missed it" update, saying that the next-generation update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be dropping during the second half of 2021.

CD Projekt Red previously announced that next-gen updates were on the way earlier this month, stating that the studio is looking to take full advantage of this gen's powerful hardware. Visual and technical improvements will be included in the update whenever it does arrive, including utilizing ray tracing and the impressively fast loading times of both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

The upcoming update will tackle the base game, the expansions, and all additional content that players have come to enjoy. The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt is stunning in so many different ways. The combat is fascinating, the storyline is incredible, and traversing the countryside with Roach is a beautiful adventure. It was like a gift that never stopped giving. Taking that already amazing experience and making it even more so through the power of next-gen is going to be an incredible jump. It also gives me the excuse to play through this title for the billionth time.

No shame.

When Marvel's Avengers was first unveiled, many were quick to point out that the characters and skins looked like knock-offs of the heroes' counterparts in the wildly popular Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. Not only that, but the storyline's setup followed similar beats to that of Avengers: Endgame, with the Avengers failing in a mission, followed by a jump ahead in time. When Crystal Dynamics announced that it was finally embracing the film side of the world of Marvel, fans were excited to equip the MCU looks of their favorite heroes. However, a tweet from the Marvel's Avengers account resulted in some confusion among the fan base regarding how these skins can be obtained.

We'll be introducing the Red Room Takeover event this spring!

In a tweet sent on March 26, 2021, the Marvel's Avengers Twitter account talked about the upcoming Red Room Takeover event, which is set to happen this spring near the release of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Black Widow movie. In the tweet, the Marvel's Avengers account says the event, "Features rewards like animated nameplates, outfits inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a deadly HARM Room hacked by Yelena Belova, and more secrets to decrypt."

While you could certainly draw from that tweet that only the animated nameplates were rewards, the wording could lead players to believe the MCU outfits would be event rewards that are earnable through participating the event. In a subsequent tweet on March 29, seemingly in response to fan speculation that the skins would be earnable through the Red Room Takeover event, the Marvel's Avengers account cleared up its messaging. "To clarify, the outfits inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be available exclusively in the Marketplace for purchase with credits," the follow-up tweet said.

These skins aren't the first time a game that exists outside of the Marvel movies embraces the looks fans remember from the big screen. Insomniac Games added the suit Tobey Maguire donned in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy as a post-launch update to Marvel's Spider-Man, while its follow-up, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, featured a suit inspired by Into the Spider-Verse. While Insomniac's Spider-Man games are structured very differently from Crystal Dynamics' live-game model in Marvel's Avengers, it is worth noting that the movie-inspired skins in Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales are free or unlockable.

It's also worth pointing out that the announced MCU skin strategy doesn't differ much from Marvel's Avengers' overall strategy that requires players to purchase the majority of skins they want using the game's currency. The precedent is certainly there, but the original tweet's wording could have definitely been better for clarity's sake.
