Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the massive sequel to 2020's Final Fantasy VII Remake, hit PlayStation 5 back in February to acclaim from both critics and fans alike. We gave the game an 8.5 out of 10 and you can read about why in Game Informer's Final Fantasy VII Rebirth review. Now, a little over a month since the game's release, Square Enix has promoted Rebirth's director, Naoki Hamaguchi, to its executive staff alongside four others joining the ranks.
The other promotions include that of Octopath Traveler series producer Tomoya Asano, Foamstars general manager Takeshi Nozue, Takayuki Hamada, and The DioField Chronicle producer Takamasa Shiba, as reported by Game Developer. These five Square Enix developers join others in the company's executive staff, like Final Fantasy XVI director and Final Fantasy XIV producer/director Naoki Yoshida and Final Fantasy series producer Yoshinori Kitase.

Final Fantasy XVI is nearing its one-year anniversary since its release back in June of last year on PlayStation 5. With its final set of DLC coming in The Rising Tide launching this spring, and the PC release on the horizon, developer Creative Business Unit III has brought protagonist Clive Rosfield over to its other Final Fantasy game, the critically acclaimed MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV.
Thanks to a new crossover event between FFXIV and FFXVI, players can now make their Warrior of Light look like Clive and even ride atop his trusty dog companion, Torgal. Plus, the crossover contains a new story questline for FFXIV, orchestration rolls to collect that feature songs from FFXVI, and an adorable puppy Torgal minion.
Dubbed The Path Infernal, Square Enix says, "At the conjunction of two stars does the tale begin" between FFXIV and FFXVI. And the crossover is now live as of yesterday, April 2. You have until Wednesday, May 8, to complete the questline, which begins with A Land on Fire. In order to partake in this questline, your Warrior of Light must be Level 50 and you have to have completed the main scenario quest, The Ultimate Weapon; or, in other words, you have to complete the main story of A Realm Reborn.
After that, head to Ul'Dah – Steps of Nald (X: 8.8, Y: 9.8) to accept A Land on Fire and begin your adventure with Clive.
Completing this questline gets your Warrior of Light the full regalia of Clive. That includes the Metian Vest, Metian Guantlets, Metian Chausses, and Metian Sollerets.
You also receive both the Torgal Whistle, which allows you to ride a grown version of Torgal as a mount in FFXIV, and the Torgal Pup minion.
After completing the crossover questline and obtaining these items, there's still more to collect:
The FFXIV x FFXVI crossover event is now live in FFXIV and runs until May 8. For more information about it, read the full details here.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is "alive and well," according to Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch. He revealed this during a recent interview with IGN, where he also confirmed Saber took Star Wars: KOTOR Remake with it following its split from Embracer Group.
Last month, Embracer Group, the company behind the closure of Saints Row studio Volition Games and layoffs at companies like Black Forest Games and Eidos-Montréal, sold Saber in a $500 million deal. It sold the studio, which is also developing the first-person adventure Jurassic Park: Survival, to a group of private investors under Beacon Interactive, which is controlled by Karch. At the time of the sale, the company didn't mention its Star Wars: KOTOR Remake, leaving excited fans concerned for the game, which itself has already gone through some rocky development.
Now, thanks to Karch's interview with IGN, we know the game is still in development.
"It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this," Karch told the publication. "It's been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations."
That's all Karch shared about the remake, however, and IGN writes that in an investor call following the announcement of Saber's sale, Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors implied the remake might still be a long ways away.
