Apex Legends Season 8 has launched for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox players, but another console will soon be able to join the battle royale combat. Since launching cross-play for Apex Legends on October 6 last year, Nintendo Switch players have been waiting to be able to play Apex Legends.
The Switch version for Apex Legends was announced during the EA Play Live event along with the announcement of cross-play. Respawn Entertainment intended for the Switch version to release around the same time as cross-play, but was delayed until now. With many new things in store for Apex Legends in 2021, a Switch release can be finally added to that list.

Respawn Entertainment has announced that Apex Legends will release on the Nintendo Switch on March 9, 2021. Along with the release, Nintendo Switch players will be in for a treat, as they will be rewarded 30 free Battle Pass levels to help catch up with other platforms. By the time Apex Legends releases for Nintendo Switch, Season 8 will already have been available for a month, but Switch players will still get to enjoy all the new content as well as have cross-play enabled the first day of release.
Season 8 features a number of changes to Apex Legends including a redesigned King's Canyon map, the introduction of the new character Fuse, and a brand new weapon called the 30-30 Repeater. Season 8 also adds new equipment like the gold barrel stabilizer and brings back the fan-favorite gun mod anvil rounds. Now, with 16 legends, three maps, and many different events, Apex Legends looks substantially different than when it released in February 2019, so Nintendo Switch players will get to experience Apex Legends at its best.
Even before the release of Season 8, Apex Legends hit a new concurrent player record on Steam with 129,928 players. It seems the excitement for Season 8 and the addition of the new Olympus map in Season 7 has enticed more players to play Respawn Entertainment's battle royale title. Apex Legends is slated for a big 2021, with its release on Switch coming in a month and lots of Season 8 content in store.
Although the developers have not released much information about events in Season 8, players will possibly get a special Valentine's Day event and a Town Takeover event sometime in the season, as many of the characters have not had a one yet, including original characters Bangalore, Caustic, Lifeline, and Gibraltar. Soon, Apex Legends will be accessible on all major platforms, bringing more players into the fight.
Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and releases on Nintendo Switch on March 9th, 2021.
