Season 8 of Apex Legends brings a variety of changes, but players are noticing that some of these include server lag and connection issues.

Fans of Apex Legends are expressing concern over server lag and connection issues. The recent season of the Battle Royale Apex Legends has brought a host of problems preventing players from enjoying the game.

Apex Legends' launch came out nowhere back in 2019. Since then, it has joined the ranks of one of the most dominate battle royales on the market. The free-to-play nature combined with diverse gunplay and characters has developed a big community. But now in Season 8, players are noticing game breaking server issues causing frustration.

It looks like there are two major problems having a negative effect on the experience. One is the infamous Code: Leaf error code that can appear when trying to get into a match. Essentially, this notice appears letting the user know that connection to the server has timed out. This is particularly annoying because the rest of the teammates may be able to join while the user is still on the home screen. The other controversy has to do with Apex Legends' infinite loading screens on the main menu. Without even receiving an error code, players are being redirected back to the main menu and get stuck on loading.

The thing is, these problems are appearing for players both hardcore and casual. Apex Legends streamer Mac "Albralelie" Beckwith even went to Twitter to bring attention to Respawn. In the post he calls out the miserable state of Predator Ranked play, during which the streamer was teleported through a wall. Other major players like Daltoosh joined into to express frustrations with the servers. At this time, the developers have only posted a message saying the issues are being investigated.

These server controversies are unfortunate because otherwise Season 8 has brought some great changes. A new character Fuse came to Apex Legends, as well as a new 30-30 Repeater weapon. Two years after launch, it is surprising that Respawn is still having difficulty with the game's servers though. It would be one thing if the problems were random, but if anything it is starting to seem rampant. For a game that relies on precision shooting and quick decision making, lag can be detrimental to the experience.

Apex Legends is running a collection event with limited time items to unlock too. With server issues preventing players from even playing, their chances of unlocking the gear are dropping fast. It is possible that Respawn might extend the time frame, but so far there is no official announcement. At least the team is working on the server lag and connection problems though, and hopefully the issues will be resolved soon.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The Switch version will launch on March 9 and a mobile port is in development.
