Apex Legends has is one of the most well-known battle royale games on the market. In addition to the numerous heroes players can select, there is also a wide variety of gear to pick up in a match. With all the competing playstyles, some interactions are going to result in broken mechanics. A new glitch has appeared in Apex Legends making Mirage less useful when using a specific item.
An update released earlier this month added a bunch of additional content to the title. Fans can take part in the Caustic Town Takeover while also playing a newly released Nintendo Switch port of Apex Legends. Along with the event and other updates, the team at Respawn Entertainment put in some extra gear like the Gold Backpack.

Those aiming to win a round will likely want to grab this piece of gear due to its buff. Simply put, it lets the player character carry more items while competing in a match. While appealing, those fans who typically play as Mirage will want to think twice about grabbing the backpack. Due to a bugged interaction, the "Now you see me" passive ability for the hero becomes near useless in combat.
Normally, using this feature will turn Mirage invisible while reviving teammates. The problem is that the Gold Backpack item adds a glowing effect, showing that a Guardian Angel revive just occurred. Therefore, if Mirage is wearing the item and becomes invisible during a revive, his location will be revealed immediately. Even with Respawn adding solos to the game, playing as a group of three is the core game mode. Being able to keep teammates up is a major strategy for making it to the end of the round.
Those who are well versed in guides of Mirage's abilities will recognize the downside. Having an ability nerfed because of equipping a good item is a major problem for Apex Legends. The more gear players can hold at a time, the better their chances are when facing dicey situations. Now, fans of the game will have to decide between using Mirage at all or refusing to put on the Gold Backpack. Regardless of the final decision, these gamers will be at a disadvantage compared to other competitors.
Unfortunately, at this time Respawn still has not offered any update on the status of a fix. While the problem seems like a basic interaction problem, it could be a while before a patch comes out. The Nintendo Switch version of Apex Legends has received a host of bug fixes recently, so the Gold Backpack bug could be low on the list. In any case, those diving into the Battle Royale may want to steer clear of Mirage in the meantime.
Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
