A Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Season of the Chosen's week 5 Challenge tasks Guardians with gaining 5 Infamy Ranks, but it may be beneficial to wait.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Season of the Chosen brings with it new Seasonal Challenges. Seasonal Challenges are a set of weekly challenges that offer Bright Dust, XP, and sometimes War Table Reputation. These Seasonal Challenges can be completed as they are introduced each week, or they can be completed any time after their introduction. This allows Guardians who do not play Destiny 2 every week to still be able to progress without missing too much.

In Week Five of the Seasonal Challenges in Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Season of the Chosen, Guardians are presented with the In It For Infamy Challenge. The In It For Infamy Challenge requires players to play Gambit and increase their Infamy Rank 5 times, however, it is not retroactive. The Infamy Ranks must be full ranks such as Brave or Mythic, and not sub ranks like Brave 2 or Brave 3. Fortunately, Week 5 offers extra Infamy Rank points to make the grind a little easier.

Guardians who have been playing Gambit previously in the season will not have their prior progress applied to the In It For Infamy Challenge. Guardians must complete their 5 rank-ups after this challenge is presented to gain progress towards completing this Challenge. This has created some conversation within the Destiny Community about why this Challenge is not retroactive like other Challenges.

For Guardians who are wanting to be more efficient with their time, they may want to wait to work on this Challenge. According to Reddit user Jaded-Ad2838, leaks for future Weekly Challenges outline future steps that also include Gambit. Week 7 has a challenge to acquire the Salvagers Salvo Gambit Ornament. Week 8 requires Guardians to kill 40 Primeval Envoys, while week 9 will require players to kill 40 Guardians in Gambit.

Considering the Reddit post covers leaked content, it is possible that these steps may change before they enter the game. Guardians who are not fans of Gambit may want to wait until week 9 before grinding out their Gambit matches. Waiting until week 9 may allow Guardians to work on multiple Gambit based challenges at one time, instead of risking the future Gambit challenges not being retroactive.

Guardians in Destiny 2: Beyond Light already have a lot of content currently in Destiny 2 such as Battlegrounds, so maximizing efficiency may be important to some Guardians. For Guardians who enjoy the Gambit game mode, they may have more reasons to spend some quality time with the Drifter in his unique PVE/PVP game mode.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
