Choosing the right auto rifle for PvP combat can get tricky. Here's how you can choose the right one for you.

The Trials of Osiris have become a focal point in Destiny 2 after the Beyond Light expansion. The highly competitive mode has taken over the PVP scene since it was re-introduced in 2020. Because Destiny has entered its fourth year, there are more skilled Destiny players than ever.

To have the best chance of success, guardians will need to use meta weapons and gear in Trials and the Crucible. In total, there are over 60 Legendary and Exotic auto rifles in the game. While that may seem like a large number of weapons to sort through, there are ten that stand out as the best to use currently in PVP.

10 The Unbent Tree

The Unbent Tree has one of the highest rates of fire in the game. The eccentric looking gun will pack u punch up close despite having only 2 impact. The available perks for the weapon are what make it one of the best, however. Perfect balance should be selected as it eliminates horizontal recoil, which is the most difficult type of recoil to control. Likewise, the Counterbalance perk reduces idle sway to make hitting shots even easier. With just 16 range, the Unbent Tree should be used in close quarters gunfights. Gamers can pick up the gun from the Iron Banner packages or from the Crucible Quartermaster's auto rifle package.

9 False Promises

False Promises is one of the heaviest hitting assault rifles with 33 impact. The weapon's default zoom of 20 and a 38 meter range make it one of the top long range weapons to use in PVP. Guardians will want to get the weapon with hammer forged rifling, ricochet rounds, dynamic sway reduction, and rampage. Even without the above god roll perks, the weapon is a strong option for players that enjoy fighting from range.

8 Grim Citizen

Guardians will enjoy using the reliable Grim Citizen in PVP. The gun has a decent rate of fire at 77 with 28 impact, which is a deadly combination. Guardians that can hit their headshots will down enemies with ease. However, gamers that are only hitting body shots will get outgunned. To increase stability and mix in headshots, players must be using the persistence and hand laid stock. Both attachments will help players with recoil control and stability. The Grim Citizen will appear as a Lord Shaxx bounty reward and it can also spawn in crucible packages.

7 Vision Stone

The Vision stone is a well balaced auto rifle with modest damage and a high fire rate. The weapon has good stability and range as well. The gun's perks are equally impressive. Snapshot will give guardians a much faster aim down sight time while smart drift, send it, and rodeo will give the weapon pin point accuracy. Vision stone is not the fastest firing weapon, or the strongest, but it has one of the best recoil patterns of any automatic rifle in the game. Ultimately, impact does not matter if players are not hitting their shots. Players can get the legendary weapon in the Trials rewards after winning seven matches in any given week. It will not drop every time, but gamers that can go flawless will have a better chance of unlocking the gun.

6 Gnawing Hunger

Gnawing Hunger is one of the most used auto rifles in Destiny 2. It has a competitive ttk at .8 and well rounded stats throughout. The auto rifle is incredibly balanced, easy to use, and has very good perk options. The best rolls for the weapon will include the kill clip perk, which will bring the gun's ttk down to .6 after getting a kill and reloading.

5 Continental

Guardians can find the Continental in the vanguard quartermaster's inventory from time to time. The Weapon is similar to the Vision Stone in many respects. Both guns have 88 fire rate and 8 impact. However, the Continental has 97 stability, which makes it one of the easiest guns to use in Destiny 2. Guardians lucky enough to get a roll with braced frame and hidden hand will have the most accurate automatic weapon in the game. Hidden hand will help gamers identify targets while aiming down sight.

4 Galliard-42

Thus far, the Galliard has one of the fastest times to kill of any auto rifle. Similar to Gnawing Hunger, the Galliard is a versatile auto rifle that can be used in almost every scenario in PVP. Guardians will also be able to equip longer range scopes for improved accuracy and control. The perk rolls for the weapon are great as well. The best perks for the rifle are dynamic sway reduction to eliminate idle sway and kill clip for increased damage after every kill.

3 Extremophile 011

The Extremophile is a god tier weapon with incredible roll potential. The Continental may be slightly easier to control, but the Extremophile has high caliber rounds. The high caliber rounds will make enemies flinch if hit by the gun. The extremophile is essentially a Continental with an additional flinch perk. The gun will melt enemies at medium range with little resistance. Guardians must be in Dead Orbit to get their hands on the weapon.

2 Suros Regime

The best auto rifles in Destiny 2 have the triple threat of good handling, reload speed, and aim assist. Suros' spinning up perk will increase the fire rate of the weapon while it is being fired. Players may look at its 600 fire rate and assume that it is not viable. However, once the weapon exceeds 600 rpm, it will destroy armor as quick as any weapon in the game. Players also have the option of using the dual speed receiver, which will slow the weapon's rate of fire and increase its damage. The weapon's perks allow it excel at close range with spinning up and dominate at long range with dual speed receiver. The intrinsic trait of the weapon makes the bottom half of each magazine deal even more damage. Suros Regime's perks and intrinsic trait make it a force to be reckoned with in all PVP modes.

1 The Summoner

The Trials of Osiris exclusive weapon is the best auto rifle in Destiny 2. The base weapon is good enough, but a three times rampage Summoner will have a blisteringly quick .5 ttk. Guardians should try to get a gun that has both zen moment and rampage. Zen moment will improve recoil control as players hit shots, which is deadly when combined with the effects of rampage. The Summoner also has great handling, reload speed, and aim assistance.
