Fortnite made another change to the game this week due to an apparent problem with one of its features. While Fortnite has a variety of other vehicles players can use, the game will be without any trucks for the foreseeable future.
The pulling of trucks from the game isn't a particularly new action for Epic Games. Fortnite has had a wide variety of vehicles added and then taken out over the years. However, "regular" vehicles like cars and trucks weren't inserted into the game until Season 3. Trucks were a staple for players since they were added right up until now. This happens to be the first time Epic has had to remove them entirely.

On the official Fortnite Status Twitter account, the developers made a short announcement of the move. That announcement only said there was an "issue" that needed to be resolved and that the developers "booted" the OG Bear truck. So far, Epic Games has not offered up any explanation of what the issue was, or how long it thinks trucks will need to be absent. The announcement had followers of the account commenting on how annoyed they were by the move, with some claiming trucks are the best vehicles in the game. Others started calling Fortnite a dead game, recalling a debate that trended on Twitter about a week ago. Some posted fears that the trucks would never be added back.
For all of Fortnite's success, Epic tends to make little tweaks here and there in-game fairly often. Sometimes those tweaks, additions, and removals include new skins or an entirely new map. Other times it's just a smaller feature, a mod to a vehicle or a dance emote. One difference between some of the recent updates Epic has made to its maps and vehicles and the pulling of trucks entirely, is that these vehicles play a central part in some of Season 5's weekly challenges.
Those who might be concerned that trucks are going to be removed from the game for a long period of time could point to the relatively quick return of Fortnite's sand tunneling feature. Epic has had to remove the feature a couple of different times since it was introduced near the beginning of Season 5.
The sand tunneling feature was last taken out in December and added back a week ago. For now, players will have to wait and see, as there have been very few details made on what spurred the decision to remove the OG Bear and if the removal is permanent.
Fortnite is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
