After plenty of mystery, Epic Games' popular battle royale Fortnite unveils the female counterpart to Midas and here's how to get the skin.

Fortnite has finally decided to unveil the female counterpart to popular character Midas. Requested since the beginning of Season 5, the "female Midas," named Marigold, has decidedly shown up fashionably late at the tail end of Fortnite's current season.

Epic Games' popular battle royale shooter is currently in the last week of its fifth season. Fortnite has just officially confirmed its Season 6 start date, with a new solo experience that will have gamers playing through the culmination of Agent Jones' mission in the Zero Crisis Finale, which is expected to conclude the events caused by the Zero Point. Given Midas' importance to the story previously, there's reason to believe Marigold could play a pivotal role in Fortnite's somewhat mysterious narrative.

After data miners found a Marigold loading screen in the game files at the beginning of the season, Fortnite fans have been requesting the skin's release. Fortunately, players looking to unlock Marigold need to look no further than the Item Shop. Part of the Golden Touch Challenge pack, the $11.99 bundle comes complete with the Marigold outfit, the Golden Daggers pickaxe, and Golden Gambit back bling. In addition to the variety of cosmetics, the pack includes a list of challenges worth a total of 1,500 V-Bucks. The Marigold skin is a reactive one, turning the character more and more gold after eliminating other players. Many players figured the skin would be the latest Fortnite Crew outfit, with the added challenges likely the reason for it being a separate purchase.

As previously mentioned, the Golden Touch Challenge pack comes with its own set of exclusive challenges. Similar to the Zadie challenges, players will take on daily quests unique to the skin. However, rather than unlocking cosmetic variants, the quests' rewards are in the form of V-Bucks. The first day's challenge will require players to complete Uncommon or Rarer quests for a 100 V-Buck reward. The remainder of the challenges are expected to steadily rise up in value to 500 by the fifth day, facilitating a fairly quick turnaround time for players to recoup the money initially spent attaining the challenges.

The fact that the pack comes with 1,500 V-Bucks-worth of challenges more than justifies the purchase, especially for regular Fortnite players. As it currently stands, 1,500 V-Bucks translates to about $15, so Epic Games is essentially paying players to complete all of Marigold's quests. Her counterpart Midas hasn't been seen since 2020's Fortnitemares event, so it'll be interesting to see if these quests divulge any information on his whereabouts.

While Marigold and her associated cosmetics are sure to attract those invested in Fortnite's lore, others may be more interested in one of the battle royale's many crossover skins. Continuing its extensive partnership with Marvel, Fortnite has officially released Ant-Man cosmetics, which comes complete with a giant olive toothpick for a pickaxe. It'll be interesting to see what role (if any) all of these characters will have with the next season just around the corner.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
