The world contained inside Genshin Impact is incredibly vast with players being able to freely explore the majority of it to their hearts' content. In order to do so without too much hassle, players will need to become familiar with the various available travel methods throughout the game.
Out of all the travel methods, gliding is one of the most helpful ways to get around outside of walking and fast traveling in Genshin Impact. It allows players to help avoid nasty fall damage, traverse large gaps, and even travel along wind currents.

Gliding is unlocked pretty early in-game with Amber giving players a Wind Glider rather shortly after arriving in Mondstadt. There are different Wind Gliders that players can unlock via different means, but each one behaves the same mechanically.
To glide after getting a Wind Glider, players just need to press the jump button while they are already in mid-air. Gliding can be canceled by touching the ground, pressing the jump button again, or by using a plunging attack to slam down onto the ground.
Like many other physical actions, gliding will cost players stamina to use. If players completely run out of stamina while gliding, they will immediately fall and hit whatever surface is below them. Certain characters like Amber and Venti have skills that decrease gliding stamina consumption for the player's party by 20% as long as the character is in the party. If players find themselves running low on stamina during a long glide, players can avoid the fall damage by canceling their glide in mid-air, then quickly using the last of their stamina to take out their glider again right before they hit the ground.
While gliding, there are certain things that players will want to keep a lookout for. One of these are Anemo Rings. These rings will give players a speed boost in the direction the ring is facing. Orange Ameno Rings however will slow players, so they should be avoided.
Upcurrents are upward flowing air currents that will launch players into the air if they take out their Wind Glider while standing inside them. Gliding inside these Upcurrents additionally will not cost players any stamina, allowing players to rest and regain their stamina by staying near the top of the upcurrent.
Genshin Impact has multiple quests that rely on players' gliding skills as well as hosting a variety of limited-time events focused on gliding. Those who want to earn the rewards from these challenges will need to practice their gliding skills.
Genshin Impact is available for Mobile, PC, and PS4, with PS5 and Switch versions in development.
