In a new update, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is bringing back the fan-favorite feature allowing players to create custom weapon blueprints. Originally introduced last year for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the custom weapon blueprints are making their way to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War as part of its Season 2 Reloaded event.
Blueprints in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War allow players to get special versions of weapons that have different stats and cosmetic changes that are exclusive to those blueprints. The changes can be pretty drastic, like adding colored effects to bullets or adding a bright blue plasma barrel.

The new custom blueprint feature will allow players to mix and match different pieces of the blueprints that they have unlocked for a weapon to create a more personalized version. The system is bound to create some pretty crazy combinations. Players can build up to ten blueprints for every weapon in the game, and they can be used across Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's multiplayer and zombies mode. There is a ton of variety in the blueprints available in the game, and more are being added consistently, so players will have a lot of options to choose from.
The system allows players to mash together quite a few different parts, meaning that there should be a lot more visual variety in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer matches after this update. Players can change the optic, muzzle, barrel, underbarrel, body, magazine, handle, and stock attachments from any blueprint they have in their inventory, so every custom blueprint will have a lot of different parts coming together. Surely there will be a lot of players making the most ridiculous guns possible, but there should also be quite a few players that use the system to make some genuinely cool weapons.
Skins and cosmetics are always a great way for players to customize their gameplay experience and express themselves a bit to their fellow players. This feature seems like a great avenue for players to do just that, especially since many of these blueprints are purchased in the in-game store with microtransactions, so this system will let players who purchased them get some more bang for their buck. The update comes on top of a lot of new content for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War so there is a lot for new and returning players to see and experience.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
