Season 9 for Apex Legends is likely to launch in early May, and it will feature a lot of changes, including a “bigger nerf” for Horizon. But a developer from Respawn suggests that Revenant may be receiving some changes as well.
The “murder bot” had an underwhelming debut when he was released in Season 4 of Apex Legends, but Revenant eventually received some buffs that brought him up to par with the other legends. His ultimate, however, has drawn some ire from players for being too frustrating to go up against, as players often have to essentially fight a whole team twice if the enemy utilizes Revenant’s ultimate properly.

Some fans have also complained about the size of Revenant’s hitbox. Yesterday on Reddit, one fan asked Respawn’s Live Balance Designer John Larson if Revenant’s passive could be buffed to compensate for his large hitbox. Larson said that they “liked the idea,” but admitted that the developer wants to address “some frustration surrounding his ult” before giving Revenant any buffs. Sadly, Larson wasn’t able to add any more details beyond “we’re working on Rev stuff.”
While unclear, Larson’s words paint a picture that while Revenant could receive some sort of buff to his mobility passive, hitbox, or tactical, he might be getting a nerf to his ultimate. With Season 9 likely launching in less than a month, it may be that buffs or nerfs for Revenant may not be ready in time. But there are plenty of other legend changes coming, including a massive shakeup for Lifeline, who will be losing her revive shield completely.
Season 9 will apparently be a big one for the battle royale. Back in December, Game Director Chad Grenier teased that Season 9 will feature “major things you did not expect.” Respawn has since revealed that “a ton” of Titanfall content is coming to Apex next season. It will be interesting to see what that means. Perhaps more characters like Ash and Blisk could show up, or maybe gameplay elements from Titanfall like the titans themselves could arrive in some capacity.
Before more details on Season 9 are revealed, a new event will come to Apex called War Games. This event will feature a rotating suite of different modes, including one where players automatically pick up the banners of dead teammates. Another mode, called Ultra Zones, will feature multiple Hot Zones full of high-tier loot that also heal players. The War Games event begins on April 13.
Apex Legends is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
