Genshin Impact's newest character has a complex background and story. Here are a few things you might not know about Rosaria.

Rosaria is a new 4-star character released on Genshin Impact 1.4 update. Players have been anticipating her release ever since she made a cameo on 1.2. In the Dragonspine quest, can see the mysterious Rosaria in action. Although there was an outrage due to a change in her 1.4 design, a lot of players still choose to wish for her.

Rosaria is a Sister of the Church of Favonius, which might seem strange considering Rosaria's attitude does not reflect the other sisters'. However, there's a detailed backstory on how this came to be. Here are some things players might not know about Rosaria.

10 She Was Raised by Thieves

Rosaria did not grow up in Mondstadt; instead, she was born in a faraway village in the mountains. While she was a baby, the village was raided by bandits to its destruction. During this raid, a bandit took Rosaria and eventually rose her among them.

She spent her childhood as a tool for these crooks, performing simple tasks to help with their thieving. With them, she learned how to fight and survive. Her childhood was not easy, as food alone was a scarce commodity.

9 She Has "Fathers" Like Bennett (& Killed One of Them)

Raised among thieves, Rosaria has not one, but several "fathers". This story seems familiar, as Bennett's situation is similar. Rosaria's story, however, is much darker. While Bennett was lovingly raised by adventurers, Rosaria was used as a tool by bandits.

Eventually, Rosaria killed one of her "fathers", the was the one who took her in as a baby. During this fight, the Archon blessed her with a Cryo Vision. But one thing echoes in her head: did her father sacrifice himself so Rosaria can replace him?

8 Varka Allowed Her to Redeem Herself

The bandit gang was eventually eradicated by the Knights of Favonius. As Rosaria was the youngest among them, Grand Master Varka decided that she should be allowed to redeem herself and sent her to become a sister of the Church of Favonius.

Rosaria did not do well in her training. She didn't care about the sisters' work, nor the masses and choirs. She can't be bothered with prayers, or any form of church event. Eventually, she was allowed to bear the title of "Sister" – but at what cost?

7 She Has Beautiful Handwriting

Unlike Xingqiu, who's infamous for his monstrous handwriting, Rosaria has beautiful penmanship. Unfortunately, she only uses this to fill her boredom. Her journal, which is supposed to be for her lessons as a sister, is instead filled with nonsense.

While Rosaria was training in the Church, she often skipped her classes and ran to the rooftop instead. There, bathing in the sun, she would listen to the merchants in the city. She has recorded their words beautifully in her journal: "Buy three Tomatoes and get one free!"

6 She Doesn't Do The Work Of A Sister

Although she bears the title of "Sister", she does not do any traditional Sister jobs. Instead, her work is someplace in the shadows. Deeming herself a child of the moonlight, Rosaria is determined to keep Mondstadt safe from threats that lurk at night.

This is Rosaria's true work, and her title as a sister is nothing but a cover for this truth. Unfortunately for her, this sometimes means that she has no choice but to attend some events in the church. Though she attends when she has to, she's surely the first to leave a service.

5 She's Quick to Disappear

The church isn't the only thing Rosaria does not bother with. She also dislikes social interaction, preferring to be alone most of the time. On the rare occasions that she's forced into social interaction, she'll disappear the moment her friend blinks.

This is most frustrating for Sister Barbara, who's determined to get close to Rosaria. Of course, her efforts are in vain. Rosaria does not appear to be heartless, though. During the Windblume Festival story, she was seen comforting Barbara down after the latter thought her sister, Jean, was buried somewhere.

4 Rosaria Hates Overtime

While Ganyu innocently asked the Traveler to join her for overtime, Rosaria is a firm believer that it is not negotiable. She is a professional in her work, and one can rely on her to make anything happen. Nobody could rightly describe Rosaria as lazy.

However, when it comes to working outside her designated time, she refuses. After her work is done, Rosaria will immediately disappear, whether it's to the Tavern or to have some moments alone. She will find a way to fill the time, but not with work.

3 She Doesn't Know How to Say "Barbatos"

Rosaria may be a sister of the Church, but she's not exactly a believer in the gods. In fact, she doesn't even know how to say "Barbatos'', the name of the Anemo Archon.

Fischl once heard Rosaria pronounce the name as "Bartabos" while thinking that Rosaria was leading a prayer. Since it's impossible that Rosaria would lead a prayer, one might assume that she was putting down criminals in the name of the Anemo Archon. Quite a shame she pronounced Bartobas wrong, though. Or was it Barsibato?

2 She Likes Dandelion Wine, But Never Gets Drunk

Sister Rosaria has never found amusement in the flora of Teyvat. However, Dandelions are the sole exception. Not because of its appearance, nor the fact that it's brittle. Rather, it's because the simple flower can become Dandelion Wine.

Rosaria spends a lot of time in the Tavern, and Dandelion Wine is one of her go-tos after work. Although she likes alcohol, it's quite notable that she has never gotten drunk. This is may be because she knows that alcohol can unveil someone's cover. It appears that Rosaria is careful even during her break.

1 Rosaria and Jean Admire Each Other

To Rosaria, Jean is an admirable person. The Acting Grand Master is capable of handling the matters of Mondstadt, but this doesn't just include her own work. Jean likes to ensure that everyone's business is taken care of, which inspires Rosaria to be thorough herself.

For Jean, Rosaria's independence drives her to work harder. Jean once offered Rosaria her help, but Rosaria believed that doing would make more work for herself. Jean believes that Rosaria always does her job well, inspiring her to work harder to assist the people of Mondstadt.
