One Pokemon fan shows their appreciation for the Generation 5 Ghost-type Yamask by creating unique earrings taking advantage of its design.

Pokemon remains one of the biggest multimedia franchises on the planet, with video games, animated adaptations, a card game, and more enticing fans of all ages. With that popularity comes merchandise, and The Pokemon Company has plenty of official offerings, including newly announced Kanto-themed Pokemon aprons produced by Original Stitch. However, fans have made just as much if not more merchandise based on the creature-collecting franchise, with one recently advertising unique jewelry based on the Generation 5 Pokemon Yamask.

Introduced in Pokemon Black and White on the Nintendo DS, Yamask is a Ghost-type that evolves into the highly defensive Cofagrigus - popularly used by Team Plasma's villainous leader Ghetsis and the basis of a one-off pun by Gym Leader Elesa. Despite not necessarily being top-tier, Yamask has become well-known for its Pokedex entries suggesting the mask it carries is meant to resemble its face from when it was a living human, and in Pokemon Sword and Shield Yamask got a Galarian Form with a divergent evolution called Runerigus.

Yamask's hanging mask is the centerpiece of earrings created by a Florida-based Reddit user named Joey, who goes by Noeljo94 on the social media site. They uploaded a video of their "nickel-free" craft jewelry, which depicts the Pokemon with a loose, swinging mask that dangles off a wearer's ear, to the r/pokemon subreddit Friday. The earrings are available via their Etsy shop, StardustStarShop, for $8.50 USD.

Joey's clever take on Yamask isn't the only thing for sale at StardustStarShop, as the independent creator has a number of goods based on video games and TV shows. For example, they also sell earrings based on the blocky bees from Minecraft, as well as jewelry and sticker sheets based on Steven Universe and The Owl House.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Pokemon Red and Green releasing on the original Game Boy in Japan, and fans have not been shy about showing their support for the influential series. Other Pokemon crafts and projects have appeared online over the last few months, from one person recreating Pokemon's Johto region out of LEGOs to themed outfits or towns being created in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Game Freak and other developers are also working on a number of games set to celebrate the anniversary. New Pokemon Snap releases this month, acting as a successor to the popular Nintendo 64 game, while Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl as well as Pokemon Legends: Arceus have been announced. As more Pokemon games continue to release, fans like Joey will no doubt continue to show off their creativity with crafts and other offerings.
