A Star Wars fan shared a video of their very own lightsaber model, which spins just like the ones wielded by the evil inquisitors.

When the Inquisitors made their new canon debut in the animated series Star Wars: Rebels, they wielded a unique kind of lightsaber never seen before. Now, one fan shows off an impressive replica of these deadly weapons.

In Star Wars, the Inquisitors were a group of dark side force users who worked as agents of the Sith during the reign of the Galactic Empire. While they looked similar in appearance to the Sith, using red lightsabers and dressing in all black, they were not actually able to ascend to the Sith order due to the Rule of Two, which states that there can only be two Sith in the galaxy at any time.

The two Sith, of course, being Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, the Inquisitors were a nice way for Palpatine to get around the rule of two, which he never seemed very good at following. The Inquisitors acted as enforcers and assassins for the Empire, tasked with hunting down any remaining Jedi in the galaxy after the great purge. Some of them were even Jedi who had fallen to the dark side. Along with Rebels, they’ve appeared in multiple Star Wars books, comics, TV shows, and video games, most notably in Star Wars: Fallen Orderand the Darth Vader Marvel comics.

The Star Wars franchise is always trying to come up with new and unique lightsaber styles, like Darth Maul's double-bladed lightsaber or Kylo Ren’s fractured medieval-inspired crossguard handle. When the Inquisitors showed up in Rebels, they used a unique double-bladed lightsaber that would spin like a propeller blade when needed. This even allowed them to fly through the air and attack with a ferocious effect.

Besides, according to Anakin Skywalker himself, spinning’s a good trick. As you can see in the video, Reddit user u/PatchBots has created a replica lightsaber that can do just that. While it’s incredibly cool and clearly the work of a dedicated fan, the creator probably wouldn’t recommend trying to fly with it.

As far as the current canon goes, the Inquisitors have all conveniently been killed off by the time of the original Star Wars trilogy, so Luke Skywalker never had to face down one of these baddies. However, they’re still likely to appear in a variety of upcoming Star Wars stories, since the timeline is all over the place. An Inquisitor could easily make an appearance in both the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show and the upcoming spy thriller Andor since both shows take place during the reign of the Empire.

Star Wars: Rebels is now streaming on Disney Plus.
