Hamilton star Renée Elise Goldsberry is set to star alongside Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) in the upcoming Marvel series She-Hulk. Last month, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige stated that the 10-episode Disney Plus series would begin filming in the coming weeks.
According to Deadline, Goldsberry will be playing a character named Amelia. The exact details of Goldsberry’s character are being kept under wraps, as Marvel has yet to announce Amelia’s identity. Goldsberry is best known for playing Angelica Schuyler in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s smash-hit musical Hamilton and Evangeline Williamson in the soap opera One Life to Live. The Broadway and television star took home the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical in 2016 and will be seen in the new Tina Fey series Girls5eva.

Kat Coiro and Anu Valia will be directing the She-Hulk pilot, while Rick and Morty writer Jessica Gao will serve as executive producer and showrunner. She-Hulk follows Jennifer Walters (Maslany), a New York lawyer who receives an emergency blood transfusion from her cousin Bruce Banner and inherits a milder version of his Hulk powers. Unlike Hulk, Walters retains her intelligence, personality, and emotional control after she transforms into a larger version of herself. The character first appeared in the 1980s The Savage She-Hulk #1 and was created by iconic Marvel writer Stan Lee and artist John Buscema. The upcoming Disney Plus series is She-Hulk's live-action debut.
Mark Ruffalo is reprising his role as Bruce Banner/Hulk, while Tim Roth is returning to play the antagonistic Abomination. Roth last played Abomination in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Ginger Gonzaga, who appeared in Netflix’s Space Force and Jim Carrey’s Kidding, confirmed that she’s playing Jennifer’s best friend in the limited Marvel series. Kevin Feige teased that certain MCU characters could make cameo appearances since Walters is a lawyer who specializes in superhero-orientated legal cases.
She-Hulk is one of many Marvel series in the works at Disney Plus. WandaVision aired earlier this year, while The Falcon and the Winter Soldier premiered last month. Loki, which stars Tom Hiddleston as the title character and Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, is slated to drop on the streaming platform this June.
Meanwhile, the Oscar Isaac-led Moon Knight is expected to start filming this spring. Moon Knight tells the story of Marc Spector, a soldier who becomes the god of the moon after surviving a near-fatal experience in an Egyptian tomb. Earlier this year, Ethan Hawke signed on to play the villain in the limited series.
She-Hulk is expected to premiere in 2022 on Disney Plus.
