Over the past 10 years, one of Nintendo's more understated franchises has found new life. Today, Fire Emblem is quickly becoming one of Nintendo's premier franchises. Given its recent success, it wouldn't be surprising to hear Nintendo considering ways to increase the number of Fire Emblem releases going forward. And according to one intriguing rumor, it's doing just that. If the rumor is to be believed, Nintendo is working on releasing remakes of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.
The rumor comes from Reddit user thanibomb, who has previously shared leaked information regarding the Fire Emblem franchise. Thanibomb responded to speculation within the Fire Emblem Heroes community that there was a surprising trend of Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn content being added to the game. They said that they believe "something much bigger" is being built towards. They later responded with the eyes emoji to a user speculating about a Tellius remake, Telius being the continent both games are set on and a common name used to refer to the pair.

To summarize, the rumor is that Nintendo is working on remakes of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, perhaps bundled into a single package. This game was potentially planned to launch in 2020 alongside a surge in related microtransaction content in Fire Emblem Heroes. Instead, the game was seemingly delayed, one of many games impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
It must be reiterated that this is a rumor, however, and not a leak. While it's true that thanibomb has leaked Fire Emblem information before, specifically about Fire Emblem: Three Houses in 2019, they're also just a big Fire Emblem fan that is regularly active in the community. It's possible, if not likely, that thanibomb is just speculating about what's happening next in the Fire Emblem franchise based on content being added to the Fire Emblem Heroes mobile game.
With that said, a remake of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn is not outside the realm of realistic possibility. Both Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn are well-regarded within the Fire Emblem community and are believed to have been limited due to the tepid popularity of the GameCube platform.
Nintendo has made no announcements regarding the future of the Fire Emblem franchise for the time being. While it's likely that there is another Fire Emblem game in development in Nintendo's Intelligent Systems division, who's to say exactly what the project is and when it'll arrive. Nevertheless, Fire Emblem fans are certain to be attentive to this summer's Nintendo events for any potential announcements.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses is available now on Nintendo Switch.
