Resident Evil Village is now less than a month away from release. While players are looking forward to continuing Resident Evil's story, some gamers are more excited to encounter the famous Lady Dimitrescu. Ever since Capcom revealed Lady Dimitrescu in one of Resident Evil Village's trailers, fans have been wanting to know more about the mysterious and sinister tall lady.
Although Capcom has since revealed some information about Lady Dimitrescu, the studio is obviously saving the best things about her for players to discover in Resident Evil Village. However, for fans who can't get enough of the tall vampire lady, here is everything we know so far about Resident Evil Village's breakout star, Lady Dimitrescu.

Based on everything that Capcom has revealed so far about Resident Evil Village, it is revealed that Lady Dimitrescu's full name is Alcina Dimitrescu, who is likely the matriarch of the Dimitrescu family. Although her origins are unknown, it is clear that Lady Dimitrescu is not an ordinary human. It remains unclear whether her mutation is supernatural in nature or is caused by a mutagenic agent such as a virus or a parasite.
According to Capcom, Lady Dimitrescu stands at 9'6" tall, making her taller than Nemesis and Mr. X. Although Capcom still hasn't officially revealed the inspiration behind Lady Dimitrescu's design, the character is likely based on the Hachishakusama, which is a figure from Japanese folklore. Similar to Lady Dimitrescu, the Hachishakusama is an extremely tall creature standing eight feet tall. Additionally, the Hachishakusama is known for its consumption of children between 9 and 11 years old, making it a horrifying creature in Japanese folklore.
Interestingly enough, even though Lady Dimitrescu's appearance has a close resemblance with the Hachishakusama, Capcom revealed in an interview that her design didn't start the way it is now. The developer revealed that Lady Dimitrescu had been part of Resident Evil Village's development from the beginning, and the studio initially started with reused character models of Resident Evil 7's Mia Winters. The developers took Mia's character model and adorned it with a dress and hat to make her appear ghost-loke and scarier.
However, Capcom didn't think that putting her on a dress is enough, which led to the studio's decision to make her character model larger, and thus, the design of Lady Dimitrescu as we see now was born. After Capcom developed the prototype for Lady Dimitrescu's character model, the studio then attempted to create an environment that would best suit the lady's design, and Capcom settled on the idea of creating the victorian-era inspired Castle Dimitrescu.
Currently, Lady Dimitrescu's exact role in Resident Evil Village's plot remains unknown, but it is for certain that she will be a formidable force for players to deal with. Additionally, Lady Dimitrescu will likely function similarly to Mr. X and Nemesis from Resident Evil 2 and 3, and players should expect to be constantly stalked and hunted by the tall lady. However, one thing that sets her apart from previous tyrants is her beautiful character design.
In the past, most of Resident Evil's villains were designed to look monster-like and horrifying to heighten the games' scare factor. However, Capcom will likely be taking a different approach with Lady Dimitrescu by utilizing psychological horror instead of having players chased by robot-looking monsters. In the end, no matter how Capcom designs the mechanics behind Lady Dimitrescu, it is without a doubt that she is on her way to becoming one of Resident Evil's most unforgettable villains.
Resident Evil Village is set to release on May 7, 2021, for the PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
