Elder Scrolls lore describes dozens of different Daedric races. Here are a few that every fan should know about.

In the world of The Elder Scrolls, the Daedra are supernatural beings that inhabit various realms of Oblivion. Some refer to them as demons, but this can be misleading. Like the Daedric Princes, they aren't considered good or evil. They will side with whoever will help them in their cause, whether it be mortals or other Daedra. However, most mortals will steer clear of them out of fear for how powerful Daedra are.

Though they're not as powerful as the Daedric Princes, even common Daedra can put up a tough fight for players in any Elder Scrolls game. Here are ten Daedra that mortals should know about.

10 The Aureal, AKA The Golden Saints

The Golden Saints are a powerful race of Daedra with gold skin with cat-like eyes. They usually dress in gold, avian-themed armor. They mostly serve the Daedric Prince of Madness, Sheogorath, and guard his realm of Oblivion, the Shivering Isles. These Daedra protect the region of Mania, an area that reflects Sheogorath's lighthearted side.

Despite their angelic-looking appearance, the Golden Saints are a proud and arrogant race. They are quick to anger and very cruel in their punishments for wrongdoers. A matriarchal society, they look down on all males, no matter the race. Male Golden Saints consider themselves weaker beings than their female brethren.

9 The Mazken, AKA The Dark Seducers

A dark counterpart to the Golden Saints in appearance, Dark Seducers can range in skin tone from pale human-like colors to blue, gray, or dark purple. Some are said to even have retractable bat-like wings. Though they are spawn of Sheogorath, some serve other Daedric Princes like Molag Bal, Mehrunes Dagon, and Nocturnal. Unlike the Golden Saints, the Dark Seducers are usually polite and patient when dealing with mortals.

Like the male Golden Saints, male Dark Seducers are weaker than females. Because of this, female Dark Seducers look down on males, but are still more polite about it than female Golden Saints.

8 Lurkers, Hermaeus Mora's Guardians

Lurkers are tall, amphibious humanoids with large mouths rowed with sharp, needle-like teeth. These menacing Daedric creatures come from the murky waters of the dark realm of Apocrypha.

They guard Hermaeus Mora's realm by staying under the water, protecting any forbidden knowledge. When fighting, they stomp on their opponents and can attack at a long-range by spewing tentacles or acid from their mouth. Lurkers can also regenerate their health when attacked and have a resistance to poison, making them difficult enemies for any mortal.

7 Xivlai, Daedric Mercenaries

A very intelligent race of Daedra, the Xivlai are tall and muscular with blue/grey skin and glowing yellow eyes. They usually wield two-handed weapons and can cast a variety of spells, including summoning lesser Daedra.

Most Xivlai are in encountered pairs, and seen working together towards a common goal. Unlike most other Daedra Xivlai have no true loyalty to anyone specific, and will serve whoever they please. Most serve Molag Bal and Mehrunes Dagon as assassins, knights, torturers, and judges.

6 Aurorans, Meridia's Knights

The Aurorans are a humanoid race of Daedra in service to the Daedric Prince of Infinite Energies, Meridia. They usually appear gold, but can come in a variety of colors. They wield incredibly powerful shock magic and are resistant to magic and lightning.

When near a Dark Orb, the Aurorans are bestowed with nearly unlimited vigor and healing, and are prevented from being sent to the Void. They sometimes combine in phalanx formations to channel their light and deter trespassers.

5 Dremora, Widespread and Powerful

Just as intelligent as the Xivlai, the Dremora are very powerful and have been known to command armies. They are very capable warriors and mages in combat. Some even have weaker Daedra like Banekins work for them. Most Dremora are warriors for their clans, but some have worked in Tamriel as mercenaries, torturers, pirates, and merchants.

The Dremora and Xivlai view each other with contempt. The Xivlai see the Dremora's mannerisms and fashion as vulgar, while the Dremora view the Xivlai as pompous. During the Second Era, Molag Bal would experiment on these two races and combine them to create a new race, the Xivkyn.

4 Daedroth, A Vicious Reptilian

Viewed as one of the "lesser" Daedra, Daedroth are bipedal creatures with a crocodile-like heads and other reptilian features. A Daedroth is usually the size of a tall mortal, but can be summoned to colossal size.

These creatures use their claws to physically attack their enemies, along with biting and spitting flames. They can also shoot poison and utilize shock magic. Only mages with an incredibly strong will can summon and control a Daedroth.

3 Atronachs, Conjurer's Servants

Known as the Elemental Daedra, Atronachs are very intelligent creatures that are most used by Conjurers. They don't have any loyalties to any Daedric Prince, and can be seem roaming throughout Tamriel or any plane of Oblivion. Most Conjurers summon the Flame, Frost, or Storm Atronachs to do their bidding. Air Atronachs were created by the Celestial Serpent when he took control of the Celestial Mage's army.

Flesh Atronachs and Iron Atronachs are Atronachs that were created by mortals. Some consider these creatures Golems. Though not originally from Oblivion like the others, other Daedra will create such beings to use for their bidding.

2 Spider Daedra, Mephala's Minions

The Spider Daedra are associated with Mephala, the Daedric Prince of the Obscure and Secrets. They appear with a female humanoid torso and armored carapaces. Fierce and unruly, even Mephala worshippers fear summoning them because they might not follow commands.

Spider Daedra are very powerful in both melee and magical combat. They can spin webs, spit poison, cast powerful spells, and wrap their enemies in cocoons. These cocoons are so strong that they can only be broken from the outside. They can also summon Spiderlings, smaller but just as deadly versions of Spider Daedra.

1 Xivkyn, Molag Bal's Experimental Hybrid

These Daedra were created by Molag Bal, the Prince of Domination and Enslavement. They are a hybrid resulting from the combination of Xivlai and the Dremora. Devotedly oyal to Molag Bal, the Xivkyn share many of his twisted personality traits. If they have a chance to raise their reputation in his eyes, the Xivkyn will take that opportunity and use any means necessary to accomplish it.

Though they are part Dremora, both races hold each other in contempt. The Xivkyn see Dremora as lesser beings, whereas the Dremora see the Xivkyn as a threat to their existence.
