Valheim has managed to maintain its popularity after its meteoric rise to popularity when it released in Steam Early Access this past February. To do so Valheim has been supported by updates from the developer, Iron Gate AB, as well as having a great community that makes various mods and content.

Valheim is a Viking-themed survival RPG that tasks players with surviving in the titular realm while improving their characters to hunt down and kill mythical creatures roaming the realm. While surviving and exploring, players can level up various skills for their preferred weapon types, running, sneaking, and quite a few others.

In a new mod titled Skyheim, Nexus Mods user makzimus has added The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim's magic system to Valheim. The mod adds a new system whereby players can use the materials they get for killing the game's various bosses to craft different runes that can be used to cast the spells. There is an impressive variety of spells included that have a variety of uses like healing, teleportation, attacking, or lighting up an area. The mod also allows players to level up the runes and spells that they craft, fleshing the system out even further and making it much more rewarding for dedicated players.

The spells in the mod come with some great-looking animations and effects as well, so much so that they look right at home in Valheim. In the above video from YouTuber Howdoudoaspace, they provide a very detailed look at not only how the rune and upgrading system all works, but also the different spells included and the specific effects of each. Every spell seems very useful, and the mod looks as though it is a great addition to the vanilla Valheim experience. The mod also seeks to keep the progression balanced and incentivizes players to fight bosses and complete dungeons multiple times to gather the required resources.

Skyheim seems like a great addition to Valheim that could help keep the experience fresh for players as they wait for the official content releases planned by the developers. Members of the Valheim community have been occupying themselves by creating some truly incredible things, and Skyheim joins a solid stable of great and varied mods that players can experiment with. The mod is available now on Nexus Mods for any fans that are interested, and Valheim will surely continue getting great new mods from the community that will continue to make a great game even better.
