A sword-wielder and Geo user, Albedo is a powerful character in Genshin Impact. Here are some mistakes to avoid when using him in battle.

Genshin Impact brought in two new 5-star characters in its 1.2 update. One of these was Albedo, a sword-wielding Geo-user and mysterious citizen of Mondstadt. No one in the city knows his history, but luckily, his past is trivial in the City of Freedom.

For Albedo, all that matters is the present. He rose to his current position after Alice wrote a recommendation for him. Alice might be an unfamiliar name for a lot of players, but she's actually quite famous in Teyvat. This eccentric adventurer is the mother of the beloved Pyro Bomber, Klee, who is like a sister to Albedo. A captain in the Knights of Favonius, Albedo is quite simple to play with, but players might have made some mistakes when using him. Here are some examples of what to avoid.

10 Building Albedo on Attack

Albedo's main source of damage came from his skill rather than his burst. When he uses his skill, Albedo summons a "Solar Isotoma", a large field with a flower in the middle. If an enemy is hit inside this field, "Transient Blossom" will appear and damage the enemy.

The damage of his Transient Blossom is the core of his kit. However, unlike the rest of his abilities, Transient Blossom scales with defense instead of attack. Players who build Albedo on attack will lose a lot of potential for this skill, so focus on building defense instead.

9 Not using Harbinger of Dawn

Within the swords, there's a hidden gem in the 3-star pool called "Harbinger of Dawn". This weapon has Critical Damage as its substat, along with a whopping 28% Critical Rate from its passive.

Considering Albedo doesn't need attack, Harbinger of Dawn's low base attack will not hurt his overall damage. Instead, this weapon will greatly improve his Transient Blossom's damage by providing stable critical hits and large Critical Damage. In addition to the Harbinger of Dawn, players can also use the 1.2 free sword, Festering Desire.

8 Making Albedo a Main DPS

Albedo has a very low multiplier on his normal attack. It is the lowest of the other sword characters, lower than Keqing and Qiqi. This makes him a poor choice for a main DPS.

It is quite unfortunate considering Albedo's base attack is actually on the upper half between the other characters. His base attack is the 10th highest, while his base defense is the 2nd highest, with Qiqi being the top. Other than that, Albedo's ascension stat is Geo Damage. This shows that his stat is meant to accommodate his skill and his burst, rather than his normal attack.

7 Underestimating His Transient Blossom

Players who choose to build Albedo with attack might have underestimated his Transient Blossom. This is a big mistake, because it's actually better than it is on paper.

Transient Blossom can be triggered every 2 seconds. It is important to note that this skill's damage is a small AOE, capable of hitting multiple enemies at once. His Solar Isotoma has a quick cooldown of 4 seconds, allowing a 100% uptime of his field. This means that if enemies move out of range, players can easily cast this skill again near foes.

6 Not Utilizing His "Elevator"

Apart from the damage of Transient Blossom, Albedo's Solar Isotoma also offers a feature that players call "Elevator". This can be triggered by stepping on the Solar Isotoma's locus in the middle of the field.

While it holds limited use in battle, it still serves a useful purpose. For example, if players are using a catalyst or bow character, they can utilize this elevator to obtain the high ground. Additionally, it can also be used to reach high places during exploration. However, it does tend to be buggy on tilted terrains.

5 Using His Solar Isotoma Against Certain Bosses

While Albedo's Transient Blossom is extremely handy, it has limited uses against some bosses. For example, no Geo construct can be made on Oceanid's platform. Additionally, powerful bosses can also easily destroy his Solar Isotoma.

This is most apparent if players attempt to use his skill against Andrius, or more commonly known as "The Wolf Boss". Andrius's AOE hits can render Albedo's Solar Isotoma useless, because he will constantly destroy the construct. The skill is also tougher to cast against bosses, since players will have to aim the skill away from the boss. If they don't, auto-aim will place it on the enemy, destroying the flower immediately.

4 Not Using His Burst Correctly

Albedo's burst has a low energy requirement, a trait he shares with other Geo characters like Ningguang and Zhongli. Because of this, players can easily spam his burst. However, players should keep one thing in mind when casting it.

When using his burst, players should remember to place his Solar Isotoma first. Without it, Albedo's burst will deal minimal damage, especially if players build him on defense instead of attack. With Solar Isotoma on the field, his burst will generate seven Fatal Blossoms, dealing extra damage.

3 Using Mona's Passive Talent Over His

Mona has a similar passive talent as Albedo. They both help level-up materials for weapon crafting. However, the exact mechanisms between them are different. Albedo's talent has a chance of doubling the result, similar to Sucrose's talent. Meanwhile, Mona has a chance to refund the used materials, similar to Xingqiu's talent.

Mona might have a higher chance of her talent to proc, with 25% compared to Albedo's 10%. Statistically though, Albedo's talent will yield a higher value than Mona's. However, at the end of the day, both mostly depend on luck.

2 Not Utilizing His Elemental Mastery Bonus

Albedo's burst may not deal the best damage, but it has a low energy requirement. Players can easily spam his burst and have close to 100% uptime.

While it may not seem like a good idea damage-wise, players should keep in mind that using his burst will buff the players' other characters. His burst grants an extra 125 Elemental Mastery for 10 seconds. Considering Albedo's burst has a twelve-second cooldown, it is fairly easy to maintain this Elemental Mastery buff if players continue spamming it.

1 Thinking His Transient Blossom Ruins Elemental Reactions

This was one of the most common questions upon Albedo's release in 1.2. His Transient Blossom deals Geo damage, and it creates Crystallize reaction if the enemies are affected by "aura elements", which include Cryo, Hydro, Pyro, or Electro. A lot of players are concerned that his skill will cause this aura to disappear, ruining their Elemental Reaction.

Luckily, this is not the case with Albedo. While his Transient Blossom still produces Elemental Shard, it does not remove the aura from the enemy. This means players can use their Elemental Reactions as usual.
