Morrowind is a classic open-world RPG, full of bizarre and deadly enemies. Here are the most dangerous creatures players can encounter in the game.

The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind served as a departure from the previous games in the Elder Scrolls franchise, and established much of the canon and formatting of its future games. One of the most intriguing parts of Morrowind, and one that skyrocketed the series to fame, was its setting; a fantasy world apart from the usual European mode of fantasy. Morrowind boasts lands cloaked in ash, a volcano that dominates the landscape, and dwellings made from towering mushrooms.

Morrowind is also home to strange and wonderful creatures. Not all of these creatures are benevolent; some are the most dangerous creatures found in Tamriel. Some are the result of adaptation to Morrowind's harsh climate, others are constructions, or summoned from Oblivion.

10 Cliff Racers

Cliff Racers are the rats of the sky in Morrowind, only more lethal – especially at lower levels. Despite their name, the player can encounter Cliff Racers throughout Vvardenfell, not just on cliffs. Though they're not particularly powerful, they are aggressive and attack in large groups.

Interestingly, Cliff Racers were said to be driven out of Morrowind by Saint Jiub sometime between the events of Morrowind and Oblivion. This may be a reference to St. Patrick chasing the snakes out of Ireland.

9 Kwama Warrior

Kwama are insectoid, and live in hive-like societies. Though the Queen is the ultimate leader, she presents no real threat to the Nerevarine. Instead, she depends on her Warriors to protect her.

Kwama Warriors are one of the most deadly of the Kwama creatures. Their poison makes their attacks lethal to lower level players, and they defend their territory and their Queen with ruthless efficiency. A low level player who wanders into their territory will find themselves quickly overwhelmed by swarms of these Warriors.

8 Hunger

Hunger are daedra associated with the Daedric Princes Boethiah and Sheogorath. They're immune to most forms of magic in addition to normal weapons, making them difficult to defeat.

These creatures are also capable of dealing offensive spells that weaken their enemies, such as Disintegrate Armor and Disintegrate Weapon. They then Paralyze their victim, before moving in for the kill. Hunger drop Daedra Hearts upon death, which makes them useful for making potions.

7 Ogrim Titan

Ogrim Titans are the more powerful version of the Ogrims. They're a variant of daedra, and are associated with the Daedric Prince Malacath. Legend says that Ogrims were sent to Tamriel for the amusement of the Daedric Princes.

What makes the Ogrim Titans dangerous is their ability to regenerate when injured. Ogrim Titans, like all other daedra, are immune to normal weapons and are resistant to most forms of magic. Players can find them most often found around Vvardenfell's Red Mountain region. Ogrim Titans only start to spawn when the Nerevarine has reached level 15.

6 Steam Centurion

Steam Centurions are a type of Dwemer Animunculi, a collection of Dwemer mechanical creations. These powerful automatons attack with lethal bursts of steam, which damage and burn their enemies. Thick, metal plates compose its entire body, meaning that they have few weaknesses.

Advanced Steam Centurions are even more deadly, and reside only in the Dwemer ruin of Bamz-Amschend. The best way to defeat the Steam Centurion is to aim for their joins, where they are unarmored and weaker.

5 Ash Ghoul

Ash Ghouls are also referred to as Ash Poets. These hideous creatures have their faces hollowed out, with a wormlike creature growing in the cavity. Despite their lack of a mouth or face, they are sentient and capable of speech. They make constant references to Dagoth Ur, proving their loyalty and association with him.

Ash Ghouls have a chance of giving the Nerevarine a disease called the Blight. They also use magical attacks. Many Ash Ghouls are named, all relating the house of Dagoth. This further reinforces their connection to Dagoth Ur.

4 Storm Atronach

Storm Atronachs have the appearance of a pile of rocks animated by purple bolts of electricity. They deliver powerful electricity-based attacks, and can defend themselves with Shock Shield.

Storm Atronachs are a type of daedra, and are the most powerful class of atronachs. They can be found wandering Vvardenfell, or they can be summoned by conjurors or the Nerevarine. Unlike other daedra, Storm Atronachs drop Void Salts upon death, another useful potion ingredient.

3 Ascended Sleeper

Ascended Sleepers are known for their grotesque appearance. They have four eyes and long, thin tentacles in place of a mouth, and always appear dressed in robes. Ascended Sleepers are said to be half-human, half-beast creatures, transformed through an entity and granted powerful magic. They dwell only in the Red Mountain region of Vvardenfell.

Ascended Sleepers, like Ash Ghouls, are sentient and capable of speech. Their dialogue reveals their loyalty to Dagoth Ur, who is likely responsible for their creation.

2 Golden Saint

Golden Saints are closely associated with the Daedric Prince Sheogorath. They appear as golden-skinned women donned in golden armor and winged helmets. Golden Saints are powerful warriors, and are resistant to most forms of magic, as well as immune to damage from normal weapons.

As a variation of daedra, Golden Saints have a 100% chance to drop a Daedra's Heart upon death. They can also drop a special item, the Daedric Tower Shield, which is a loot drop unique to this enemy.

1 Ash Vampire

Ash Vampires are incredibly powerful creatures, comparable to the high vampires of Skyrim. These  immortal beings are exceedingly rare; only seven dwell on all of Vvardenfell. Like the Ash Ghouls, Ash Vampires bear close associations with Dagoth Ur.

Despite their name, ash vampires aren't vampires at all; rather, they're powerful sorcerers. All the ash vampires on Vvardenfell are close to Dagoth Ur, and all are of House Dagoth. The Nerevarine encounters some of these creatures during the main quest, and must defeat them to continue.
