Despite CD Projekt Red's efforts to patch Cyberpunk 2077 on PlayStation consoles, Sony is still not letting the game be listed on its store.

Cyberpunk 2077 was surrounded by hype and excitement leading up to its launch late last year. Unfortunately, it is widely known that Cyberpunk 2077 was extremely buggy at launch with a multitude of performance issues across all of its launch platforms.

The base PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077 were in particularly poor condition at launch, with console players experiencing terribly low framerates, frequent crashes, and a litany of bugs. As an incredible consequence, the game was delisted from the PlayStation digital store where it is still unavailable for players to buy. Since the game's launch developer CD Projekt Red has delivered multiple bug fixes and, most recently, the sizable 1.2 update that sought to fix many of the game's largest issues.

While the update did bring some much-needed changes to the title, it seems that it still is not enough to convince Sony to re-list the game on the PlayStation Store. The update included hundreds of fixes for stability, graphic glitches, and animations. However, the update also introduced new bugs to the game as well, such as making some PlayStation 5 players unable to play their copies of Cyberpunk 2077. While neither Sony nor CD Projekt Red has released a statement on what it will take for the game to be re-listed on the store, the developer has doubled down recently on its position that it will continue to update the game until it matches its original vision.

Cyberpunk 2077 was originally pulled by Sony over 100 days ago, just one week after it launched. The launch led CD Projekt Red to offer refunds for any buyers no matter what platform they were playing on, but the title still went on to sell over 13 million copies in the first 10 days of release. The title's reception has also led to CD Projekt Red announcing that the company would be changing how it approached its future games and DLCs to ensure that future launches do not suffer from similar issues.

It is good to see CD Projekt Red working to fix Cyberpunk 2077 for its fans, but it will undoubtedly take a lot for the company to regain the goodwill that they lost from the controversies surrounding the game. Fixing Cyberpunk 2077 to be the product they promised will be a start, but it will surely take at least another complete game launch or two for the company to regain the trust it once had among gamers. Until then, players who can enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 should have a better time with the game after the updates that have been released, and hopefully CD Projekt Red will be able to get the game to a good place on PlayStation consoles so that fans on that platform can enjoy it soon as well.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions coming later in 2021.
