Popular streamer and content creator Dr Disrespect explains why he won't play Apex Legends after swearing off playing the game some time ago.

Apex Legends is arguably more popular than it ever has been. Recently, Apex Legends set another new player record on Steam thanks to the success Season 8 has turned out to be for the two-year old battle royale title.

However, not everyone is getting back into Apex Legends despite it having a renaissance of sorts. Popular streamer and content creator Dr Disrespect recently explained why he hasn't jumped back into Apex Legends after swearing off playing the game some time ago, even though he said he actually enjoys it now.

Dr Disrespect first swore off Apex Legends a little over a year ago, claiming he simply had "zero interest" in the game before saying he found each encounter to be predictable. The streamer has kept his word, having never streamed Apex Legends since saying he would never go back to it. Dr Disrespect has switch to Call of Duty: Warzone, Fortnite, and other shooters or battle royales. However, it seems while he is still intent on keeping his word, it's not because he outright dislikes the game as he appeared to feel over a year ago.

In a recent stream, Dr Disrespect explained it's no longer an issue with enjoying Apex Legends, as he admits he thinks it's a good game. However, Dr Disrespect has decided against streaming Apex because he believes it won't perform well on YouTube streaming. He explains, "The problem with YouTube is that they have no streaming community," further saying if he doesn't stream the "top three or top four" most popular games at the moment his content will suffer. Therefore, Dr Disrespect likely won't be streaming the hero-based battle royale any time soon.

It's a bit ironic, as Apex Legends has been garnering more attention than ever right now. The overall interest and player base surrounding the game has increased significantly, even being ported to the Nintendo Switch to expand the game's ever-growing playerbase. Alternatively, Dr Disrespect could even signal boost Apex Legends, introducing many new players to the game or creating content for newer players who are seeking out influencers covering their new interest. Still, if Dr Disrespect feels that pivoting to Apex Legends will be detrimental to his career, it's hard to argue, especially seeing as the streamer is doing fine with the content he's making.

It is nice to hear that Dr Disrespect's opinion of Apex Legends has softened over time. Sometimes it can be hard to tell when Dr Disrespect truly dislikes a game, as he will often show rage over titles he plays continually on stream. Recently, Dr Disrespect uninstalled Warzone out of rage, despite being one of the games the streamer plays most often. Perhaps sometime in the future Dr Disrespect will give streaming Apex Legends another try.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
