Apex Legends hits a very impressive milestone with 100 million players and also hints at an announcement in the very near future.

Apex Legends just hit a rather incredible milestone, and it does not look to be slowing down any time soon. Apex Legends has supplanted itself as one of the staples in the battle royale genre, and it has now hit over 100 million players. Even with those numbers, however, Respawn Entertainment says that it is just getting started.

Apex Legends recently celebrated its three-year anniversary, and the game seems to be continuing to grow. Now in its 8th season, Respawn Entertainment has content planned through at least Season 12 of Apex Legends. The continued support through events, new seasons, updates, and more has allowed the community to grow and thrive, and thus the battle royale has hit the 100 million player mark.

Along with hitting that massive player count, Respawn is hinting at something happening on April 19, 2021. It could be that announcements will start for Season 9 of the battle royale, which would certainly be exciting. Respawn has already revealed that Season 9 of Apex Legends will feature Titanfall content, which could be what it is teasing. But the official @PlayApex Twitter page made the 100 million strong announcement and eagle-eyed viewers of the tweet saw a quick snippet of what appears to be a new map (or at least a new region of a map).

Right before the end of the video, which comes with the announcement of Apex Legends hitting the milestone, there is a quick image of a neon and techno-styled map. This could be a change to Kings Canyon, it could be a fresh map, or it could also be the rumored Arenas Mode that is supposedly coming to Apex Legends.

Time will tell as to what exactly Respawn Entertainment is teasing, but the community is again diving deep into leaks, rumors, datamining, and more. A part of what has made the game so successful is the community behind it. Whether it be a deep passion for the lore of the game, guessing what is coming next, or simply the balance and competitiveness of it, the community cares. Apex Legends has the opportunity to survive for a long time as long as Respawn continues to tap into that.

Recently, Dr. DisRespect said that he can't move to Apex Legends due to the idea that it is no longer popular. He may be privy to information on the streaming side that others do not have, but clearly, the numbers are showing that Apex Legends is still alive and well.

Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
