An original composer for Halo plays one of the many iconic themes from the series on piano with backing vocals from his dog on social media.

Halo is a rather old franchise at this point. The first game in the series released almost twenty years ago, and in that time Halo has gone through several different changes - even having work on the series moved to a new development studio entirely. Though, one thing that has remained fairly consistent across every Halo game is its music.

Since the release of Halo: Combat Evolved, many fans have praised Halo's music as one of the most iconic and memorable aspects of the series. From swelling, orchestral battle themes to haunting, operatic menu music, the score on nearly every Halo project has further attributed to the amount of appreciation many have for the series. Now, one of the former Halo composers has given fans a small digital performance.

On TikTok Martin O'Donnell, one of the original Halo composers, treated fans to a quick rendition of an iconic Halo theme on piano. Something many should find humorous is the sound of O'Donnell's dog Baxter howling in the background along with the music. A lot of fans will consider this a welcome and heartwarming performance.

Along with Combat Evolved, O'Donnell also had his hand in composing the soundtracks for Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo: Reach. He also produced music for the very first entry in the Destiny series, though this went unused. While he may not have any direct involvement with the newer installments in the Halo series, his influence and style can certainly be felt in the music featured with these later games.

In fact, in the latest developer update regarding Halo Infinite discussed a lot in terms of audio design and music. From what was shown in the update, Halo Infinite looks to be quite atmospheric while still staying true to the tone of the original games. It will be interesting to see how Infinite's OST holds up to previous entries in the series.

That being said, it's difficult to know when exactly fans can expect a more substantial update in terms of Halo Infinite. It has been over half a year since the gameplay reveal of Halo Infinite, and there has yet to be any indication of when fans can expect to see the next batch following its delay. With the game set to release later this year, fans will just have to wait and see if Infinite can exceed the standards that other games in the Halo series have set.
