In the aftermath of a frustrating inventory glitch, the main question among the Outriders playerbase is when their lost inventories will be restored.

The most recent of what may be a long line of issues for recently released looter shooter Outriders is a daunting one, as many players have suffered from an immediate loss of their hard earned gear. The Outriders inventory bug has left many terrified of opening the game in order to avoid suffering the same fate. For those who already have, the main question is precisely when developer People Can Fly will finally implement permanent fixes and restorations.

Since it's release, Outriders has been highly acclaimed by players for it's gameplay and story elements. The third person shooter sat at the top of Steam charts for over two weeks, seeing almost 100,000 concurrent players per day more than a week after launch. Still, the game wasn't without its beginning hiccups, including launch day server issues and problems with cross-play. Although those have been more or less dealt with, players are paralyzed in fear by the possibility that their hard work could be lost to an unforeseen circumstance.

People Can Fly already pushed an update that prevents loot wipe, although for players already affected by the bug, they'll have to wait a little longer for help. As a part of its Twitter thread regarding the fixes, the developer stated that its efforts to restore inventories would be part of a separate update. Until then, as experienced by Twitter user JPDunks4, affected characters would be immediately kicked with a server error.

When asked about a potential timeline as to when players could expect resolutions, the social media team responded that exact times "are difficult to nail down." That makes sense, given that restoring individual player inventories sounds like an insanely difficult and time-consuming task. Most games would probably resort to giving out free loot or compensation otherwise, so People Can Fly's thorough devotion to helping its player base is commendable.

On the other hand, People Can Fly has already set a bad precedent by implementing some instant balancing updates. While quick patches that fix the disruptive elements of a game are favored among gamers, gameplay nerfs that come within a short time frame and without a few weeks of prior testing can be a little off-putting.

Right now, the developers over at People Can Fly are fully focused on a patch for inventory restoration. They plan to share more details once satisfied with it's effectiveness so until then, players should stay diligent and avoid trying to log in on affected characters.

Outriders is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
