One of the biggest questions that fans likely had when Capcom announced that it was creating Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness was how it would be connected to the whole Resident Evil universe. Now, with a newly released trailer from Netflix, the animated adaptation of the company's long-standing horror video game series gave fans a hint on the main setting of the web-based series, confirming that it will be starting off after the conclusion of the events in Resident Evil 4.
Since its announcement in January 2021, no intricate details have been shared about Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. Aside from the fact that the main voice actors of Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield from the RE2 Remake will return to reprise their roles, the whole narrative of the animated series has mainly been kept under wraps. Now, fans will likely be much more interested in the CGI series, given that Capcom has revealed more about the story than it has in the past few months.

Released during the most recent Resident Evil online showcase, the trailer picks up on what happened to Leon Kennedy after the events of Resident Evil 4. In the trailer, it looks like time has passed several years and Leon is seen working as an agent for the White House. During one of his trips back to the building, he encounters Claire Redfield, another Raccoon City survivor. While Claire shows him a mysterious drawing that strangely reminded them both of their experiences in the forsaken city, the White House suddenly comes under siege from a surprise zombie attack. During the whole fiasco, hardcore fans will likely have spotted a returning character from Resident Evil 4, Ashley Graham's father, who seems to have remained in office as the President.
Though nothing beyond the happenings in the White House is shown in the trailer, Resident Evil fans are likely more curious about how the entire story will pan out. Now that they know where and when to place Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness in the whole timeline, a lot of speculation on whether or not previous characters such as Ashley Graham herself will appear in the animated series.
Fans will only have to hold out until July before Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is made available online through Netflix. Hopefully all mystery surrounding the series will be uncovered then. In the meantime, with Resident Evil Village launching soon, players can keep themselves busy and satiate their cravings for zombies from the Resident Evil universe.
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will release on Netflix in July 2021.
