In Monster Hunter Rise, the hunter can wield weapons that are charged with elements. These elementally powered up weapons are essential when taking down monsters throughout the world There are a total of five different elements available: Fire, Water, Thunder, Ice, and Dragon. The player's armor, as well as enemies', is weak or resistant to certain elements (or none at all), meaning they take more or less damage said element(s).

While a monster may seem like it is weak or resistant to a specific element, that is not always the case. Also, their weaknesses and/or resistances might change during the fight in accordance with form changes or the combat setting. Moreover, Elemental Damage and Affinity (Critical) are separate. Elemental Damage does not include Status Effects, which include Poison, Sleep, Paralysis, Blast, and Stun. However, Elemental Blights are a specific kind of status which can be inflicted on hunters and monsters alike.
5 The Element Of Fire
When this element is interlaced within a weapon, the hunter deals Fire Elemental Damage on the monster. The only deterrent against Fire would be Fire Elemental Resistance.
The monsters that are weak to the Fire Element are:
- Arzuros
- Barrot
- Bishaten
- Goss Harag
- Great Baggi
- Khezu
- Kulu-Ya-Ku
- Lagombi
- Royal Ludroth
- Tetranadon
Others, meanwhile, are immune to the Fire Element:
- Aknosom
- Great Wroggi
Additionally, Fireblight is a type of Elemental Blight which causes a hunter to lose health little by little over a specific amount of time. However, monsters may suffer from it too. They will also flinch more often when under the effects of Fireblight.
4 The Element Of Water
When the hunter applies the water element to a weapon, they will deal Water Elemental Damage on monsters. If their opponent has Water Elemental Resistance, however, damage done by Water is reduced.
The Water Element is especially effective against the following monsters:
- Aknosom
- Arzuros
- Great Baggi
- Great Izuchi
- Great Wroggi
- Khezu
- Kulu-Ya-Ku

However, a handful are immune to the Water Element:
- Barroth
- Bishaten
- Lagombi
- Royal Ludroth
- Tetranadon
Waterblight is a type of Elemental Blight which drastically slows down a hunter's stamina recovery. Meanwhile, when monsters are infected with Waterblight, they get "softer," meaning their body parts (which are typically hard) will take more damage. The harder their body is, the softer it gets, meaning even more damage.
3 The Element Of Thunder
When the Thunder element is active within a weapon, its wielder will deal Thunder Elemental Damage on the monster. Only when Thunder Elemental Resistance is present does the damage of Thunder decrease.
The monsters that are weak to the Thunder Element include:
- Aknosom
- Arzuros
- Bishaten
- Great Baggi
- Great Izuchi
- Great Wroggi
- Kulu-Ya-Ku
- Lagombi
- Royal Ludroth
- Tetranadon
Only a couple are immune to the Thunder Element:
- Barroth
- Khezu
When infected with Thunderbligh, a hunter becomes more susceptible to being Stunned. When monsters suffer from this effect, any attack will cause them to become Stunned. The same rules apply though, meaning hits to the head are the most effective.
2 The Element Of Ice
When a weapon is alive with the element of ice, players will deal Ice Elemental Damage on the monster. If a creature has Ice Elemental Resistance though, Ice is not as effective in terms of damage.
The Ice element is highly effective against several monsters:
- Aknosom
- Arzuros
- Barroth
- Bishaten
- Diablos
- Great Izuchi
- Great Wroggi
- Khezu
- Kulu-Ya-Ku
- Rajang
- Rakna-Kadaki
- Royal Ludroth
- Tetranadon
- Volvidon
- Zinogre

Only a couple of monsters are immune to the Ice Element:
- Great Baggi
- Lagombi
Be sure to watch out for Iceblight though. This type of Elemental Blight causes the recovery rate of a hunter's Wirebug Gauge to decrease by a lot, leading to fewer chances to perform Silkbind Moves or even Wiredash. Still, Iceblight affects the monsters too! They do not have Wirebug Gauges themselves, of course, but monsters suffering from it will move much slower, as if their bones are frozen.
1 The Element Of Dragon
Weapons containing this element will allow Dragon Elemental Damage to be dealt by the hunter on the monster. Some creatures, namely actual dragons, and have Dragon Elemental Resistance. This means they'll take less damage from attacks that are Dragon themselves.
The monsters that are weak to the Dragon Element are:
- Barroth
- Great Izuchi
- Khezu
- Kulu-Ya-Ku
- Tetranadon
However, several are immune to the Dragon Element:
- Aknosom
- Arzuros
- Bishaten
- Great Baggi
- Great Wroggi
- Lagombi
- Royal Ludroth.]
Unfortunately, Dragonblight causes a hunter's weapons to stop working. Their elemental effects and status properties become completely negated. Fortunately, when monsters are infected with Dragonblight, they will not be able to use their special aura abilities and enrage attacks as often.
