The Golden Scythe is a unique, hidden tool in Stardew Valley. Here's how to get your hands on it and put it to good use.

Stardew Valley gives players a chance to live their farming dreams. Players can go fishing, take care of their farm, and take part in festivals. Additionally, exploring mines will provide unique items such as tools and gems. One tool players can find is the golden scythe, which provides help when farming.

While no one in the town talks about the reward, players are able to discover it after completing a bundle in the community center. Getting to the golden scythe takes some preparation and requires players to complete certain tasks, but the payoff is worth it for what it can do.

10 Unlock The Quarry

To unlock the quarry, players need to complete the Crafts Room in the community center. This will most likely be done by the time winter rolls around, as each bundle requires plants from each season. Players will also need construction material and forage in mines and the desert.

Completing the bundle will fix the bridge in the upper right area of the map. In addition to a unique mine, players can use this area to collect unique gems and material each day.

9 Have Food Prepared For Healing

Before going in the mine, players want to make sure they are prepared. Having certain foods will give combat boosts while also healing. Some buffs include extra defense or a boost to speed. If playing co-op, the other player can help cook foods for the expedition.

Cooking food gives a boost to health and energy as well. With the amount of enemies that players will encounter, having something to eat will be a huge benefit.

8 Bring Powerful Weapons

The enemies in the Quarry Mine are more powerful than normal, meaning players will want to have a good weapon. They can find weapons by completing levels in the regular mine, or completing certain actions. Several are also available for purchase at the Adventurer's Guild.

Players can expect to fight special slimes and flying skulls while in the mine. Having certain foods will also make these weapons more powerful, cutting down enemies even quicker.

7 Be Prepared To Get Knocked Out

Players will face numerous monsters throughout the mine. Aside from fighting these enemies, players will also need to mine rocks that block their paths. This can cause players to get stuck and surrounded by enemies. Players who are knocked out will wake up at the mine, possibly losing items and gold.

It might take a few times to get through the mines, but it will be worth it in the end. Sometimes the player can get lucky, and their path will not be blocked at all.

6 Enter The Quarry Mine

When it is time to start on the quest, players can find the Quarry Mine near the bridge. Entering the cave reveals a ladder that brings the players into the long cave. If the player has all of the food and weapons needed to get to the end, they should descend down the ladder.

It does not seem too troubling at first, but as the player goes further more and more enemies appear. The exciting part has started at last, and the player is now on the path of getting their reward.

5 Fight Through The Enemies

Unique slimes will be found throughout the mine, requiring extra swings to kill them. Also included are haunted skulls, which fly through the mines at random. The further players get in the mine, the more haunted skulls can be found. This can overwhelm players if they are not careful.

If a player has made it through the normal mine, they should have no problems taking out these enemies. Killing these enemies also provides some loot for players as well.

4 Make It To The End Of The Mines

At the end of the mine, players can find a statue of the Grim Reaper holding the golden scythe. This is what made the fight through the mines worth it. Players don't need to worry about having to fight to the entrance of the mine again, as interacting with the statue will teleport the player to the entrance.

The golden scythe is unique, so if the player loses it, they cannot obtain it again. The tool gives a few benefits to the player, helping them with farming and even combat.

3 The Scythe Inflicts More Damage In Combat

The golden scythe is not only a farming tool, but a combat tool as well. It inflicts more damage to the monsters the player runs across. This can help while going through the mine or Skull Cavern in the desert. It provides 13 damage to enemies, more damage than a normal scythe.

There is also a chance players can lose the scythe if they are knocked out in combat. Luckily, going to the Adventurer's Guild allows them to buy the tool back.

2 It Yields More Hay Than Usual

If players are trying to increase their farming skills, the golden scythe can come in handy. It can be used to harvest hay from grass which can then be used to feed animals on the farm. Unlike a normal scythe, the golden one gives a 75% higher chance to produce hay.

Normally hay can be bought for 50 gold, but the golden scythe lets players get it for free. Harvesting hay from grass also automatically puts it in the silo, meaning players do not need to worry about doing so.

1 It Has A Larger Radius

The golden scythe offers a bigger radius when the player swings it. This lets players collect more items per swing, requiring less energy to be used. This also benefits the player in combat, as each swing can hit more enemies. This helps if the player is backed into a corner and surrounded.

With all of the benefits the player gets from the golden scythe, it makes it worth the dangerous journey into the quarry mine. Just be careful not to lose it.
