Genshin Impact's next big update addresses a common request, giving players the chance to build a house in a pocket dimension of their own.

Genshin Impact is not an MMO, but at times it feels like one. The game's upcoming update is adding to that feeling by adding a housing mechanic. This is a popular feature in many MMOs that gives players a small slice of the world they can call their own, and Genshin Impact is taking that to the next level. Instead of buying a plot of land and building a house, players will each receive a "Serenitea Pot," a magical item that contains a pocket dimension within it. They are then free to customize and decorate this area however they like.

The next update for Genshin Impact is called Beneath the Light of Jadeite, and is scheduled to launch on April 28th. This major update will bring new characters, boss fights, and story, but will also feature housing as well. The exact details on how players will get their own Serenitea Pot remain to be seen, but the trailer below does show some insight.

Players will remember a similar item during the Liyue Archon Quests. Players enter into a tiny teapot in order to find and speak with an Adepti, so it's likely that this uses similar magic. As the video shows, this doesn't just give players a house, it also gives them an entire plot of land that they can develop however they want. In this example, the player builds a small town complete with several houses, a windmill, and other amenities. That isn't even the most exciting part about this, however.

While playing Genshin Impact, players can collect a variety of characters by making wishes. Normally, only one of these characters can be on the field at a time, but the housing feature changes that. It seems as though characters that aren't in use in the party will wander around the player's house, doing activities that fit their personality and interests. For example, Lisa is shown poring over books, and Sucrose is performing some kind of alchemy in a study.

With the update drawing ever nearer, it won't be long before fans know everything they need to about the housing in Genshin Impact. With this checked off, many fans are wondering what will come next. Other popular requests include mounts, better co-op, and more improvements to the resin system. At the moment, fans can occupy themselves playing around with this housing system until more features, fixes, and changes come down the line.

Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, and PS4, and later on Switch.
