A new patch is out for Watch Dogs Legion, and it includes files relating to the upcoming multiplayer mode as well as a ton of bug fixes.

A new patch is out for Watch Dogs Legion, and it includes some files for the upcoming multiplayer mode. Ubisoft's update for Watch Dogs Legion also supports its promise to fix the game in place of releasing multiplayer right away.

The extra mode was originally slated to release at the end of 2020, but it did not materialize as Ubisoft had to delay multiplayer so the company could focus on improving the state of the single player. Now that Update 3.0 is out for PC, it looks like these changes are indeed coming. However, patch note sleuths also detect files relating to multiplayer.

The update files have to do with a closed test for the Watch Dogs Legion Online mode. Early alphas or betas are a good sign, because they help to ensure service stability and a launch free of problems for players. As of now, there is still no specific launch date for multiplayer, but console players will likely be waiting longer for the new update to come to those platforms.

In the meantime, PC gamers can enjoy a host of adjustments improving Watch Dogs Legion. A frustrating issue of certain button options being unclickable is now no longer a problem. Plus, Ubisoft fixed a multitude of problems causing the game to crash. There is also an update that prevents FPS drops and stuttering on certain PC specifications, and overall the list is massive and corrects a bunch of minor issues plaguing the game.

This should come as good news for gamers enjoying Watch Dogs Legion. Since the multiplayer saw a delay, spending time in single player is the only way to get one's hacker fix. Unfortunately, all these minor bug in Watch Dogs Legion could add up to make the experience less than enjoyable. With those hopefully being less of a problem and a closed test for multiplayer coming, fans will likely want to brush off their controllers.

That said, it is somewhat disappointing that Update 3.0 is not coming to consoles yet. Next-generation devices are selling out fast, so the audience for console gaming is growing at an incredible rate. To not have a major update for one of the open-world games on the new consoles seems like a misstep. While it will be coming at some point, there is no definite launch, and while a closed test for multiplayer makes sense, it also is limiting the amount of players who can jump in. Overall, the Watch Dogs Legion patch notes offer plenty of fixes and do a decent job of improving the experience.

Watch Dogs Legion is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
