Battlefield 6 rumors are everywhere now that the game is at least known to exist, but there the robot dog seems so odd that it actually makes sense.

Electronic Arts and Dice have already spoken Battlefield 6 into existence, demonstrating next-gen tech behind it, mentioning that the next Need for Speed was delayed to assist with it, and more. Really, despite there being nothing actually solid shown, fans are just waiting on the companies to take the leap and showcase Battlefield 6 as its next-gen first-person shooter.

Until then, though, Battlefield 6 rumors are everywhere. Fans should be cautious of what they read, as even the most trustworthy sources are still not official sources. With everything from a classic WW2 setting to a more modern setting rumored, it can be hard to separate fact from fiction. Most of these rumors are the typical variety fans can expect to see, but there's one worth a double-take: the inclusion of robot dogs.

When it comes to reliable leaks, the most reliable so far has been Tom Henderson. His word should not be taken as official information regardless, as things could always change, and there's no telling how reliable the information given to him actually is. Nonetheless, his claims remain consistent, stating in the past that it will feature 128-player maps and will be set in the near future. He's also claimed that Battlefield 6 will come to Game Pass on day one, which quite frankly, is big news if true. Either way, the existence of in-game robot dogs come from him.

According to Henderson, the in-game robot dog is more capable to a real-world Boston Dynamics Mule than it is a dog. The dog is apparently faster, though, and can even have a weapon. The use of the word "potentially" here likely means one of two things for Battlefield 6 on PS5 and Xbox Series X: it's unverified one way or the other by Henderson, or and perhaps the more likely version, there's multiple types of dogs. This also lines up with the face that it's basically a vehicle on top of all that, and while that may all seem odd at first, there's actually a lot of reasons to believe it, aside from the source of the info.

First and foremost, it's not the type of claim a fake leaker just comes up with. It's so specific and out of left field that its very existence makes it seem reasonable. Assuming the game is more modern or set in the near future, robotics in war already exist. From drones to the aforementioned mule, the face of war is always changing, and several games have attempted to replicate that. Call of Duty offers a prime example, as the Attack Dogs killstreak always guaranteed a few kills. A surprise dog attack in multiplayer or single-player was always a shock, and the movement away from "real" dogs to robotic ones only makes sense.

If there are indeed multiple types of dogs, it could be that some have weapons, some are rideable machines, some are designated attackers like the aforementioned killstreak, and more. Building on that, it also implies a heavily robotized field of war and that could bring other big changes to the game. If dogs are first up as a robot, where does Battlefield 6 draw the line becomes a question. Nonetheless, while it may seem odd at first glance, robot dogs are potentially one reason of many to look forward to the next entry in the franchise.

Battlefield 6 is in development.
