The Ring of the Wild Hunt can be a blessing for certain Elder Scrolls Online players. Here's a look at how you can snag one for yourself.

The Ring of the Wild Hunt is a powerful relic for players in The Elders Scrolls Online. The mythical item was added in the Greymoor update and has been capturing the attention of the fanbase ever since. It also utilizes the new archaeological excavation system to obtain.

For newer players and even some of the long-time veterans navigating these new systems and finding the Ring of the Wild Hunt can be a bit tricky. There are a few steps players need to take before they look to obtain the Ring of the Wild Hunt’s pieces and it’s important to know what each step of the process is. Here is everything you need to know to get The Ring of the Wild Hunt.

The Ring of the Wild Hunt has two abilities:

  • Increase movement speed by 15% while in combat.
  • Increase movement speed by 45% outside of combat.

The effects of both bonuses are phenomenal. While wearing this ring in combat players can more easily kite enemies and it makes targeting a nightmare. Outside of combat, characters can quickly traverse the landscape and get things done more quickly. With the right setup, players wearing this ring can outrun some of the mounts out there.

Finding and creating the Ring of the Wild Hunt is a bit complicated given the new system. The first thing players will need is Scrying at level seven. There are yellow pieces involved in crafting the Ring of the Wild Hunt so Scrying level seven is a must.

There are a total of five pieces the player will need to track down and excavate in order to create the Ring:

  • Band of Water.
  • Charm of the Shapeless.
  • Face of the Serpent.
  • Face of the Wolf Beast.
  • Symbol of Y’ffre.

Once all five pieces are obtained and in the player’s possession, they will automatically combine themselves and become the Ring of the Wild Hunt.

The lead to find the Band of Water is located in Glenumbra. Once there, players will have to defeat Public Dungeon Bosses that are located in Bad Man’s Hallow. There are six for the player to hunt down that qualify for this lead:

  • Bad Man.
  • Bloatgut.
  • Bloodcraw.
  • Giant Snake Mother.
  • Rutmange.
  • Skitterflame.

Doing so should give the player the lead they need to Scry the Band of Water’s dig site using the Antiquarian’s Eye. Fortunately, the dig site is also in Glenumbra and shouldn’t be too far away.

Charm of the Shapeless has a lead inside Murkimire. To get it, players have two sources for uncovering the lead:

  • World Boss Baxilt-Gah At Bok-Xul.
  • Delve Boss Shuxaltsei at Teeth of Sithis.
  • Delve Boss Wuju-Ka Guardian at Tsofeer Cavern.

Killing any of these three bosses should produce the lead for players to Scry to the location of the Charm of the Shapeless. It is also located inside Murkimire and relatively nearby.

The Face of the Serpent component is located in Grahtwood. The lead for this object is obtained by defeating the following enemy in Grahtwood:

  • Canonreeve Oraneth in Elden Hollow I

Though there are other bosses located in this dungeon, only defeating Canonreeve Oraneth will count towards the lead. Once the player has it they’ll be able to Scry where the Face of the Serpent is buried and track it down in Grahtwood.

The Face of the Wolf Beast is a piece of the Ring of the Wild Hunt that’s located in Valenwood. Players will need to track down any one of the world bosses to uncover the lead:

  • Thjormar the Drowned in Bitterpoint Strand.
  • Bone Grappler in Bone Grappler’s Nest.
  • Dugan the Red in Dugan’s Knoll.
  • Tallatta the Lustrous in Jagged Grotto.
  • Commander Faldethil in River Edge.
  • Skullbreaker in Windshriek Strand.

Any one of these powerful bosses will do and after defeating one the player will obtain the lead. Using the Antiquarian’s eye they can begin tracking down the dig site in Malabal Tor and uncover the Face of the Wolf Beast component.

The final piece necessary to craft the Ring of the Wild Hunt is hidden away in Greenshade. The lead will be obtained after the player defeats one of the following world bosses:

  • Gathongor the Mauler in Gathongor’s Mire.
  • Jahlasri in Maormer Camp.
  • Zymel Etitan in Pelda Tarn.
  • Meheelius in Reconnaissance Camp.
  • Heart of Rootwater in Rootwater Spring.

After any of these bosses is destroyed the player will obtain the lead. They can begin Scrying for the dig site which will also be in Greenshade. Once the player obtains this final piece all of the components will automatically come together and forge the Ring of the Wild Hunt.

The Scrying mechanics can be a bit tricky for players who aren’t familiar with them. Not to mention Scrying level seven is needed to dig up any of these artifacts in the first place. If players are under-leveled or need a bit of practice it’s a good idea to go to Arteum and dig up a few things there.

During excavation, it’s important to ensure that nothing is touching the relic being dug up or it will be considered a failure. The player should ensure there’s a clean area completely surrounding the object in order to lift it out, this is still a finicky mechanic but players should get a feel for it.

The Ring of the Wild Hunt involves a lot of boss kills. Nothing on this list should be too bad but players may want to dig up a few guides on specific bosses. While a player could choose any world boss in Greenshade, players will be locked into bosses like Cannonreeve Oraneth.

The final thing to keep in mind is that while many of the bosses on this list can be tackled solo, some can be tricky. Players should really consider joining a group seeking to track down this specific item. They’re more likely to be patient when Scrying and excavating after the boss fight and will often be geared to tackle specific enemies making the whole process easier on everyone.
