Here are some of the most memorable gaming-related quotes from former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime over the years.

Former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime retired from the company in 2019 after roughly 16 years with the company. During his tenure at Nintendo, Reggie helped usher in some of the company's greatest successes like the Nintendo DS, Wii U, and the Nintendo Switch, and he gave fans plenty of memorable quotes and moments along the way. Even though Reggie has been retired from Nintendo for a couple of years now, he has remained a prominent and popular fixture in the gaming industry.

Since his retirement from Nintendo, Reggie has stayed in the spotlight for a number of reasons. Reggie was once on the GameStop Board of Directors, he has hosted his own podcast, and he has continued to make appearances at Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards event. Most recently, Reggie trolled Nintendo fans by claiming that he had an official English language version of Mother 3, which caused quite the stir on Twitter.

With Reggie continuing to be a prominent fixture in the industry in one way or another, it's time to take a look at some of his most memorable quotes over the years.

Reggie officially joined Nintendo in December of 2003, but he wasn't well-known to gamers until his appearance at E3 2004. At the event, Reggie introduced himself with the famous quote, "My name is Reggie. I'm about kickin' ass, I'm about takin' names, and we're about makin' games." At the event, Reggie helped introduce the Nintendo DS, which would go on to become the highest-selling Nintendo handheld console - a title the DS still holds. E3 2004 was also when Nintendo's new console "Revolution" was revealed to the world, though it would eventually be renamed to the Wii.

Since his appearance at E3 2004, Reggie was a consistent presence at the big show. A few years later at E3 2007, Nintendo was riding high on the success of its Wii console, and it was set to reveal a brand new peripheral for it in the form of the Balance Board. The Wii Balance Board would go on to be used for various games over the years, but it was most prominently known for its use with the Wii Fit fitness game. Prior to demonstrating how Wii Fit and the Balance Board work at E3 2007, Reggie uttered the famous phrase, "My body is ready," which became a meme that is still referenced to this day. In fact, Reggie himself called back to the famous quote at E3 2012 when showcasing the Wii U.

Quite a few of the most memorable Reggie quotes originated at E3 events, but not all of them. One non-E3 Reggie quote that's still mentioned to this day came from the Animal Crossing: New Leaf video from the summer of 2014. The video is presented as a "house tour" for Reggie Fils-Aime, but instead of showing you his real-world home, he offers viewers a look at his digital home from Animal Crossing: New Leaf. After spending some time showing off the various decorations in his house, Reggie concludes the video by saying, "Okay, that's all the time I've got. I gotta get back to playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf on my Nintendo 3DS." Like various other Reggie-isms, this quote is still referenced years after the fact, with this particular quote owing some of its longevity to how often it's referenced in videos made by popular YouTuber Dunkey.

Throughout his many appearances at E3, Reggie has said some things that have gotten famous for their cringe factor more than anything else. One of these quotes came during Nintendo's E3 2018 broadcast, shortly after it was revealed that the mega popular Fortnite battle royale game was coming to the Switch. "I can't wait to drop off the Battle Bus and meet some of you on the battlefield in Fortnite" became a meme in its own right, with many online poking fun at Fils-Aime after he said it at the event. Since Fortnite is still extremely popular, though, it seems safe to say that Nintendo made the right move by courting the game to the Switch and giving it a big spotlight during its E3 2018 presentation.

It's no secret that the Wii U wasn't exactly a sales success for Nintendo. As a matter of fact, the Wii U was one of Nintendo's rare hardware failures, and so there was a lot riding on the success of the Switch. The Switch launched in March of 2017 and had a strong start, with Nintendo keeping that momentum going at E3 2017. At E3 2017, Reggie appeared during the company's digital broadcast, which was focused entirely on software announcements for the Switch. During his speech, Reggie said, "If it's not fun, why bother?" while also making reference to upcoming Switch titles like Super Mario Odyssey.
