With MK11's popularity, and the new Mortal Kombat movie coming this weekend, fans of classic MK should check out these new arcade cabinet minis.

Mortal Kombat is as popular as ever now, almost two decades later. With Mortal Kombat 11 still one of the most popular fighting games on the market, and the release of a new Mortal Kombat movie coming on April 23, enthusiasm for the brutal brawler is at a fever pitch. For fans of the classic releases or newer fans looking to check out the series' origins, there are a lot of options. Many tend toward emulation, buying digital copies of the games, or classic consoles like the Sega Genesis Mini. But those fans and enthusiasts should check out some upcoming arcade cabinets coming soon from Arcade 1Up.

The market for home arcade cabinets has grown over the past several years, especially as building home arcades are a common "quarantine project." There are a lot of options that run the gamut of quality. New cabinets from Arcade 1Up are looking like one of the higher end options available to Mortal Kombat fans. With so much excitement building about the new Mortal Kombat movie, even those new to home arcade options would do well to check them out.

Those looking for the pure Mortal Kombat experience should check out the new arcade cabinet coming from Arcade 1Up. This new cabinet features the original MK Trilogy alongside new cabinet artwork and controls that look to best emulate the feel of the original cabinets from the 90's. The cabinet stands taller than most of the more miniaturized ones that are already on the market.

This is a good move for preserving that nostalgic sense of being in the arcade for veterans, and will help illuminate newer players to what that experience was like. Watching the trailer for the cabinet can be a quick jolt of nostalgia for players who remember dumping quarters in attempt to climb the towers in Mortal Kombat.

Mechanically the cabinet looks to function really well, to mention again the joysticks and pads (set up in a classic two-player configuration) seem to be responsive and tight, and a 17" LCD screen looks to breathe a bit of life into the game's visuals. The size of the screen is another thing making the new cabinet a lot larger than other ones already on the market, and helps to create a more authentic feeling experience.

Arcade1Up is also offering a Midway Legacy cabinet with a higher price point that features the same Mortal Kombat trilogy but also includes some other Midway classics like Rampage and Gauntlet. They will also be releasing an MK-themed stool to complete the set.

With retro-style gaming and Mortal Kombat both as popular as ever, the options that players have when it comes to building out a home arcade are numerous. Arcade1Up looks to be trying to make another bold statement in that space with their new cabinets, and to build on the momentum that Mortal Kombat has building between MK11 and the upcoming MK movie reboot have going. Fans both veteran and new to the series may have a lot to love in these new Mortal Kombat arcade cabinets when they release later this year.

The Mortal Kombat Legacy Cabinet is set to release later this year.
