A new action-packed chapter is headed to Pistol Whip, the VR action-rhythm FPS from developer Cloudhead Games ltd. Pistol Whip has received high reviews from critics and fans alike, and so far the launch and additional content have leaned towards the futuristic, sci-fi, and spy category. However, the newest Smoke & Thunder Chapter headed to the game is instead themed around the gunslinging wild west.
Pistol Whip and its additional content is available on PSVR, Oculus Quest, and other PC VR devices now, but the newest chapter is set to release later this summer. Cloudhead Games ltd. released a teaser trailer for the Smoke & Thunder content today.

The stylish teaser looks to be a rather large departure from what Pistol Whip has had to offer thus far. While the base game is about infiltrating a fever dream-like setting and engaging in things like bank heists in a colorful and almost psychedelic aesthetic, the Smoke & Thunder Chapter is instead about a gunslinger who is in search of her missing sister in what seems to be a much more simplistic, gritty, but still beautiful art-style.
In the Smoke & Thunder Chapter, players of Pistol Whip will need to unwind the DYNAMO conspiracy and save the day; it will be available this Summer. Pistol Whip truly appears to be providing a wide variety of fun and unique experiences, as the 2089 Chapter – the first one that Cloudhead Games ltd provided – is about a robot-plagued future. It is becoming more evident than ever that the virtual reality space is far more than just a series of tech demos, as full blow games and experiences are to be had for those who want to enjoy them.
Pistol Whip is available now for Oculus Quest, PlayStation VR, and various PC VR headsets.
