After the Fall from Arizona Sunshine developer Vertigo Games debuts a new gameplay trailer during the Oculus Gaming Showcase.

Today, Oculus hosted a special Oculus Gaming Showcase event online, featuring several exciting announcements regarding upcoming virtual reality games. Games at the show included Resident Evil 4 VR, Lone Echo 2, Star Wars: Tales From the Galaxy's Edge, and more. One exciting game showcased at the is the After the Fall, the follow-up to Arizona Sunshine from Vertigo Games. A brand new trailer for After the Fall revealing its 4-player co-op gameplay has been shared online.

The new After the Fall trailer is short, more of a teaser than a full gameplay debut, but it gets the idea across. That's because After the Fall is a four-player cooperative first-person shooter. It's heavily influenced by zombie shooters like Left 4 Dead. As such, the trailer doesn't have to be lengthy to convey ideas that many VR gamers will hopefully already be familiar with; it just has to look fun and exciting in the process.

As for what those Left 4 Dead-inspired ideas are, it's pretty simple. The start of the trailer shows the four player-controlled characters quietly stalking through a level. They're able to stealth through these areas, up until there are too many zombies to fight. At that point, the players pull out the heavy weaponry and blast their way through waves of zombie enemies. The threats at hand are diverse, with larger monsters and difficult terrain all around.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the trailer is its closing moments. After the Fall's trailer ends not with victory, but with one player seemingly all by themself. Either their team is dead or the player's been abandoned. In front of the player is a horde of zombies and all they have left is a pistol. It conveys the difficulty of the game, how important team survival is to winning, and perhaps most importantly that this is a horror game at its heart.

For those who want to experience After the Fall on their own, without needing friends, it's confirmed that the game supports four-player online multiplayer or solo action with AI teammates. After the Fall features a full campaign, including bosses, so it's not inherently a multiplayer-only experience.

After the Fall is also confirmed to support full virtual reality motion controls across multiple platforms. While the new trailer debuted at an Oculus Gaming Showcase, it'll be coming not just to the Oculus Quest, but also to PlayStation VR and other PC VR hardware. Expect more information, including a release date, in the months to come.

After the Fall releases summer 2021 on Oculus Quest, PS VR, and PC VR.
