Arriving at a nearby town, a Red Dead Online player witnesses what looks like a scene pulled straight out of the cult classic Back to the Future.

Although Red Dead Redemption 2 is universally lauded by players as an immersive open-world game, it hasn't been without its share of strange glitches. The same goes for its online parallel, Red Dead Online, which has a history of sending its players across the map at no cost. Still, few would complain about one recent occurrence, which almost looks like a scene pulled straight out of the western sci-fi comedy, Back To The Future 3.

Fans of the classic Back To The Future series are more than familiar with Doc Brown and Marty McFly's adventures in the DeLorean time machine. The invention is mostly notable for leaving a massive trail of fire in its wake, the result of the temporal displacement. While Doc explained that he chose to utilize the DeLorean for its stainless steel construction and style, it seems that a horse carriage can more or less handle the same job.

In a clip posted by a Redditor, the player quickly arrives at Valentine on horseback. Before they can fully dismount their horse, a horse carriage suddenly appears next to them. What's particularly shocking is that it appears out of thin air and with a fire trail behind it, similar to the DeLorean. The carriage continues down the road with the fire disappearing, while the player observes their immediate surroundings. The Red Dead Online clip ends with the carriage turning the corner.

Although Rockstar Games is more than known for including tons of them, this isn't a missed Easter egg in Red Dead Online. There aren't any that reference the cult classic, and with this entire situation being merely the result of a bug, it becomes all the more interesting to observe.

Despite it being just a glitch, Rockstar could still have something up its sleeves. The developer is already adding more solo content to Red Dead Online. While the above clip is no confirmation, it could be the spark that leads to a more direct Easter egg further down the line. Either way, the moment brought a lot of nostalgia for fans in the comment section.

Fans of Red Dead Online have otherwise been enjoying a new collection of Free Roam missions and events over the last few weeks. While they haven't included the addition of any major content, the western sandbox has come a lot further than many thought.

Red Dead Online is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
