Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3 kicks off today Part 1 of the battle royale's Nuke event yesterday. Season 3 has promised Call of Duty: Warzone fans an updated Verdansk map to play on, and a trailer gives them their first look at the map's redesign.
Map updates are a big part of battle royales, as they help keep things fresh for players. While this isn't the first time Call of Duty: Warzone's map has been updated, it is the first one of this scale. However, leading up Season 3's release some Call of Duty: Warzone players like NICKMERCS voiced concerns over how transformative the change would be.

Thankfully, the trailer showing off the new 1984 rendition of Verdansk shows that the wait may very well have been worth it. The first part of Call of Duty: Warzone's Nuke event saw the map swarmed with radiation and zombies while players had to extract via a helicopter to escape incoming nukes. What remains of Verdansk is, inexplicably, transported forty years into the past. While some locations have received subtler tweaks, many have been entirely redesigned, and some new areas have been added to help the map feel different to play.
Call of Duty: Warzone has received criticism from its community as of late given the game has struggled to achieve a balanced meta amid ongoing battles with cheaters and bugs. The situation put a lot of pressure on Season 3 and its associated map refresh, and technical issues at the start of the event made many worry that it would not be the success they hoped for. Luckily, the redesigned map look as though it delivers, as players are widely praising Call of Duty: Warzone's latest patch.
While it is still early in Season 3, it seems Call of Duty: Warzone is setting itself up well for the season to be a big success. The battle royale genre is a competitive one, and it is great to see that Call of Duty: Warzone is making changes players want to stay one of its top dogs. With the promising start to Season 3 it is a great time to jump into the game for the first time, or to come back and see what is new as Warzone's recently announced limited-time event, The Hunt for Adler, is starting now.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
