Call of Duty: Warzone launched through developer Infinity Ward and Raven Software. Originally, the teams were joined in their design, with the game paired heavily with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. As time went on, the game slowly grew more distant, and Call of Duty: Warzone integrated with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, creating a rough transition for fans.
With Call of Duty 2021 on the horizon, many players are thinking about what the next integration will look like. It is unknown the details as to integration, but Activision President Robert Kostich has more information regarding the franchise's future. Kostich was interviewed by VentureBeat, and he has given a brief look into the company's priorities regarding future Call of Duty content.

One factor that Kostich stressed was the need to "limit any friction" for the community in regards to new content. As Call of Duty: Warzone is paired with different games, the goal is to have a uniform experience across the titles. In regards to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the development time and differences in the engine made the games feel disconnected. The goal is for the games to not have this issue in future integration. This means that behind the scenes, the company is working on making the experience seamless to their player community.
Kostich stated in the interview that internal teams are collaborating together on Call of Duty endeavors. As players move from Call of Duty: Warzone to new releases, the experience will be designed to swap back and forth natively. A seamless game for the community is a passion point for their team, and Kostich hopes to provide the best experience possible for fans as the company moves forward.
This interview comes as fans are already discussing Call of Duty 2021. With many rumors pointing towards Sledgehammer Games and the title Call of Duty: WW 2, Vanguard's discussion about integration has been a prominent concern. One improvement that has already been rumored is that the newest title will run on Infinity Ward's engine, the same engine as Call of Duty: Warzone.
Whether or not a no friction experience is possible, it is good to know that the publisher is moving in that direction. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's integration had more than a few bumps, and the community is already expressing concern as a new integration hovers in the future. Call of Duty: Warzone is designed to be the central pillar of Activision's future Call of Duty efforts, which makes a seamless experience even more vital.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
