Raven Software confirmes investigation into a Call of Duty: Warzone requested fan feature that is long absent from the competitive title.

Field of view has been a discussion among the Call of Duty: Warzone community since the game's launch. It was discovered early on that PC players had a wider FOV than console fans, giving them a distinct advantage in crossplay scenarios. Despite Call of Duty: Warzone fans requesting a FOV slider for in-game adjustments, the developers originally said it could not be done.

Things changed when Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launched with a console FOV slider. Fans quickly learned that it was possible to give an adjustment option on console, and the only issue involved the Infinity Ward engine that Call of Duty: Warzone operates on. During a press briefing with Raven Software's Associate Creative Director, Amos Hodge, the studio has confirmed details regarding the FOV slider.

In the press briefing, Hodge revealed that the studio is aware of the fan request for a FOV slider in Call of Duty: Warzone. The development studio is investigating its implementation for consoles in the future, but he did not provide any more information. Fans are currently left without a release frame as Hodge declared that the company "cannot share" any timeline at the moment. Despite not giving a direct end result, it is at least satisfying for fans to know that the FOV slider may be coming to console at a later date.

The FOV slider is a point of contention among the Call of Duty: Warzone community. Players with varying fields of vision can see different aspects of the game environment, and multiple platforms complicate this issue. By default, Call of Duty: Warzone's FOV is set to 80; meanwhile, most other platforms have a FOV of 120. Players on console can experience the difference as the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War setting is adjusted to 120 by default on all platforms.

The main limiting factor that makes the Infinity Ward engine difficult to handle is performance limitations. Call of Duty: Warzone would have performance issues on PS4 and Xbox One if the FOV slider option adjusted to the 120 point option. Players would experience a drop in frame rates, rendering issues, and many other problems as a result.

Despite this, Raven Software is investigating possible options to offer the increased FOV to console fans. There is a distinct possibility that Call of Duty: Warzone PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players will be the only console fans to gain the feature, but Raven has not confirmed anything concrete as of yet.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
